Hamilton County: Commission approves tax break for Gestamp

by Matt Wilson

Hamilton County commissioners voted unanimously Thursday to give a tax break to Gestamp Corp., a supplier for Volkswagen.

Gestamp will employ 230 workers in Chattanooga.

The 14-year agreement will require the company to pay school taxes.

Steve Hiatt with the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce said the average wages for management will be at least $38,000 to $39,000 annually and hourly workers will make $13 to $23 per hour.
