Davis Bunn and McKeehanon Rue watched the Aldila Scenic City Invitational golf tournament last month.
The high school seniors could be playing in it next year.
Rue of McMinn County and Bunn of Farragut signed scholarship papers this week to play golf at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
"I'm really excited about this class as well as my current freshmen," UTC coach Mark Guhne said. "These guys really fit well with the guys already here.
Guhne began recruiting Rue long before he developed non-Hodgkin's lymphoma during his junior year. Rue is now cancer-free and is striving to regain his pre-illness form on the golf course.
"He's making strides and putting in the effort to get back to where he was," Guhne said. "He has the work ethic, the character and the potential to be a very good player for us."
Bunn is a member of the two-time Class A/AA state championship team at Farragut. Teammate Brandon Rogers is headed to Tennessee and Hayden Anderson is going to Georgia Southern. The Knoxville News-Sentinel named Bunn its player of the year for 2009.
"We sat down as a family and said we were going to make a checklist for every school, and UTC is the perfect fit," said Bunn, who chose UTC over several Southeastern Conference schools. "Everything is just perfect from the campus to the golf courses and Coach Guhne."
