Chamber events

Red Bank: The Red Bank Chamber will meet Tuesday at noon at Red Bank Community Center, next to Erlanger North off Morrison Springs Road. The speaker will be Warren Dropkins of Wachovia Securities. The cost of lunch is $10.

Ooltewah/Collegedale: The Ooltewah/Collegedale Chamber will meet Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at on Tuesday at Collegedale City Hall, 4910 Swinyar Drive. The speaker will be Tim Miller of McKee Foods who will discuss "Behind the scenes on hiring."

Hixson: The Hixson Chamber will meet Wednesday at noon at North River Civic Center, 1009 Executive Drive. The speaker will be Steve Bynum of The Bynum Consulting Group who will discuss surviving in a stressful world. The cost of lunch is $10.

Soddy Daisy/North Hamilton: The Soddy Daisy/North Hamilton Chamber will meet Thursday at noon at Soddy-Daisy City Hall, 9835 Hixson Pike. The speaker will be Alan Artress of Thinking Media, who will discuss workforce development. The cost of lunch is $10.

Seminars, meetings

Transitioning Professionals Workshop: Transitioning Professionals/Executives of Chattanooga will hold a free workshop Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at University of Phoenix's Chattanooga Campus, 1208 Pointe Centre Drive. Entrepreneurial Growth Breakfast: The Center for Entrepreneurial Growth will sponsor a breakfast on Thursday from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the Chamber Board Room, 811 Broad Street. John Riddell, chamber vice president and Center for Entrepreneurial Growth director, will speak on "In this economy is there any such thing as a bad customer?" The breakfast is free and open to the public. Bagels and coffee will be provided.

Reality Check: The Chamber's school-to-work program to help ninth-graders grasp the connection between scholastic success and future income will be at Ooltewah High School on Thursday from 7:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. To volunteer for this program or to help present, contact Cathy Humble at 763-4321 or chumble@chattanoogachamber.com.

Business Planning: The Tennessee Small Business Development Center will host a business planning session Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to address basic business planning to include financial projections and legal entity. To register or for more information, call 756-8668.

Communication Seminar: A seminar will be held on Thursday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. titled "Find a Better Way to Say It" to teach better communication how to avoid hot buttons and negativity. Business After Hours: The Chamber will sponsor a Business After Hours networking event Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mayor's Mansion Inn, 801 Vine Street.

Business Advice: Free business help available from members of SCORE, Counselors to America's Small Business, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday through Thursday at the Franklin Building, suite 515, 5726 Marlin Road, at Eastgate Town Center. For more information, call 553-1722.

Business Planning: Free counseling for business people available from the Chattanooga Small Business Development Center, 100 Cherokee Blvd., suite 202. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays.
