70-year-old indicted on sex abuse charges

RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say a 70-year-old disabled Franklin County man has been indicted on charges of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old girl.

Franklin County court officials say a grand jury indicted Edward F. Richard of Russellville.

Authorities say Richard, who uses a wheelchair because of a disability, is charged with enticing a child for immoral purposes and five counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12 years old.

Authorities say the girl, a family acquaintance, was 11 when the incidents allegedly occurred. Investigators say the girl reported she was inappropriately touched on numerous occasions while visiting Richard's home.

Richard has been released on $25,000 bail.
