Through East Chattanooga Weed and Seed’s partnerships and funding, crime is reduced in the neighborhood and youth have more community activities, officials said.
The East Chattanooga Weed and Seed committee will give an update tonight on progress made toward community improvement since the U.S. Department of Justice gave a $1 million grant in 2007. The money is to be allocated over five years.
The meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. at Carver Recreation Center.
Presenters include representatives from the Chattanooga Police Department, 28th Community Development Corp., Stop-the-Madness and the Regional Planning Agency.
