Honoring former Rep. Copeland

Former Tennessee state Rep. David Copeland hasn't been in the political spotlight lately, but he isn't forgotten.

Rep. Copeland for many years -- from 1968 on -- was an "expert" leader in advocating means to have simpler, fairer and lower state taxes, and more efficient government.

This week, his long, good service was appropriately recognized as the Chattanooga Manufacturers Association gave him its C.D. Mitchell Award for extensive and admirable public service.

It was well-deserved recognition of a fine citizen.
