MARVIN BOLES
An argument between friends has left one man in the Rhea County Jail and another dead.
Marvin Boles is being held on first degree murder charges for the stabbing death of his friend Stanley Simpson, said Dayton Police Chief Chris Sneed.
Shortly after midnight Wednesday police responded to a 911 call at the Willow Drive home of Mr. Boles in Dayton. When officers arrived, Mr. Boles walked toward the car holding a bloody hunting knife. Police ordered him to drop the knife and arrested him.
Officers found Mr. Simpson lying on the floor of a utility room in Mr. Boles' home. They performed CPR on on Mr. Simpson and he was transported to Rhea County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The chief said that according to two witnesses in the Boles home, the stabbing started with an argument between the two men, who’d been friends since grade school. Accounts of the argument differ and police are wrapping up evidence examination and interviews, the chief said.
Mr. Boles will likely face arraignment in Rhea County Criminal Court today, Chief Sneed said.
