* The matchup: Georgia has amassed 767 rushing yards the past four games after compiling a paltry 583 through the first six, but Kentucky should provide the stiffest test since Florida. “Most people that have hurt them running the ball have hurt them with the option game,” Georgia coach Mark Richt said. “They’ve been much tougher against the more traditional zone, power, sprint draw — the things we do the most. It makes you want to put in some option, doesn’t it?”

WHEN KENTUCKY HAS THE BALL

* The matchup: The Bulldogs clearly have some defensive momentum after shutting down Auburn for the final three quarters with a six-man box. If their three senior defensive tackles get as much push as they did last week, then the Wildcats could be in trouble. Newton played a mistake-free game in an upset win at Auburn a few weeks ago and will need the same again tonight, because the Bulldogs will try to make him win it.

THE ONE TO WATCH

* Kentucky tailback Derrick Locke (above): Locke rushed for 144 yards on 25 carries in last week’s win over Vanderbilt and will be Kentucky’s primary offensive weapon if Randall Cobb is limited or unavailable. Georgia has not allowed a 100-yard rusher this season and held Auburn’s Ben Tate to 67 on 20 carries last weekend. The Bulldogs will try to make Kentucky one-dimensional, thus putting the pressure on freshman quarterback Morgan Newton, so it may be up to Locke and Locke only to do something about it.

IN THE END

* Breaking it down: It’s a matchup of 6-4 teams seeking to improve their postseason positioning, and it’s one that could be greatly affected by Cobb’s health. The Bulldogs proved last week that they have enough to survive the loss of receiver A.J. Green, but the Wildcats would have to do their adjusting to Cobb’s absence on the road.

* Prediction: Georgia 20, Kentucky 13
