Obama's changes are not good

President Obama has been in office for only nine months, and the Democrats have had control of Congress for two years and nine months. We have seen change as Obama promised, but it has not been good.

He and his crowd have done more damage to America than all the wars, disasters and previous presidents combined in only nine months. He has set out on a path to destroy America's values and freedom. He has plans to have government take over everything, and no one would be allowed to speak out about anything.

It amazes me that some people still think he is their savior. There is only one savior, and Obama is not him.

We need to remember this country was established by Americans of all types and religions and the people of this country will not bow down to a socialist government. All of us must rise up and fight against this president and his crowd's takeover plans.

Thank God for Fox News who keep us informed with the real truth.

Give thanks by giving blood

After months of being unable to donate platelets to Blood Assurance I was finally able to do so.

I was informed that I would be making my effort during Thanksgiving week. Also I was told that this brief period is historically a time of sparse donor turnout.

I urge, therefore, those readers who will be disinclined to travel to donor centers to rethink their reluctance.

At this particular time you will not only be saving lives, you will also be giving thanks.

Maintain vigilance on breast cancer

For a number of years, my husband has been the oncology patient advocate at Erlanger hospital. During the last several years he has lost many young moms in their 30s to breast cancer. The hospital has begun a program called "Kids Count" in some of our local schools to help elementary students deal with their parents' and grandparents' cancer.

He has seen over and over what kids go through when they lose their moms to this dreaded disease.

New government task force guidelines came out Monday saying that women no longer needed self-exams or mammograms in their 40s. I hope that women will empower themselves with research from the American Cancer Society and do more to protect themselves at an even earlier age.

If only one family could keep their mom, it would be worth it.

I hope this governmental recommendation does not take women's health backward after we've spent so many years trying to help women survive breast cancer through yearly mammograms. Several of my friends are survivors because of it, and their families will be forever grateful.

Muslim objective is world takeover

Again as with the attack of 9/11, "Fort Hood was not about Islam, the religion has been hijacked by a few crazy people."

Howev,r, both Islamic houses, Dar el Salam and Dar El Harb, espouse world takeover.

Dar El Harb literally means "House of War." They are the ones who launch the attacks to subjugate the world by force, "convert or die."

Dar El Salam, "House of Peace." want to take over by force of numbers, outbreeding the original inhabitants. These are the ones who always play the victim claiming they are "repressed," deceitfully claiming to be the religion of peace.

The Koran/Quran, however spelled, states it is OK to lie to or cheat non-Muslims. In fact, it encourages further global takeover by Islam.

House switching is common, as the situation dictates.

Many misguided Americans who believe peaceful co-existence with Muslims who all have the stated objective of world domination is possible, "Alla Akabar."

. People must work to have prosperity

Thanks, China, for giving President Obama a lesson in economics. China holds a lion's share of our national debt. It seems that they told our president that his headlong plunge into deficit financing was undermining our stability, devaluing our currency and threatening the value of their investments. Why did we need a lesson in economics from China? That lesson seems missing from the president's expensive education.

The president is now saying that further deficit spending could undermine our recovery. Really? So the government does not create wealth? No, it is created in the private sector that finances our government through taxes.

After his trip, the president talked of the possibility of tax cuts for businesses to create jobs. He said that we had to get the economy started first, and then work on jobs. If we had concentrated on jobs earlier, we would not be a full year behind in our economic recovery. The focus on social programs has not and will not create jobs. We have to get people working to have prosperity.

Now, if he can only avoid the higher interest rates and inflation caused by huge deficit spending, maybe we can have some solid economic growth.

Cartoon just adds to anti-Palin frenzy

Although I am not particularly a Sarah Palin fan, I am saddened by the frenzy to find fault and laugh at her. The cartoon in Sunday's paper (Nov. 15) amplifies that mob mentality.

As far as self-help and self-serving comparisons go, where were you when Obama put out his tomes, or either one of the Clintons, or is this kind of lopsided humor only reserved for conservative wags?

Shame on county for no tax freeze

Isn't it odd that our county commissioners can't do anything for the older seniors. They can't even think of freezing our property taxes. Most of the other smaller counties can afford it but not Hamilton. They can give themselves raises and bonuses. It's not like they wouldn't still get our property taxes. Now we won't get any raise in our Social Security payments for the next two years. But I'm sure they will raise our property taxes in those two years. Shame on them. We will help them out next time we vote. They have been in office way too long.

Performances at festival great

Thanks and praise belong to all the people involved in the Third Annual Harvest Festival at the Memorial Auditorium Sunday (Nov. 15). Chattanooga is lucky to have so many chances to witness local performances led by people who rival any that can be found anywhere. The Chattanooga Music Club, along with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, as well as the Symphony Chorus, collaborated to produce an extremely enjoyable afternoon, and better yet, it was free.

Darrin Hassevoort (CSO) and Jim Baliff (CMCC) picked just the right hymns to fit the mood. Since the music cub had just finished restoring the great Austin Pipe Organ, it was necessary to find an unusually gifted person to show its vast range, so David Friberg was just the person to do it.

Thanks to the expert leadership and conducting of Darrin Hassevort it all came together. My gratitude could not be greater.
