Peggy Berry

Peggy Ann Berry passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Erlanger hospital.

She was of the Baptist faith and attended Charity Baptist Church and 1st Baptist Church of Gruetli-Laager.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Paul and Ruby Ann Berry, and sister, Margaret Ann Berry.

She is survived by her brothers, Rocky Paul Berry and Billy Paul Berry; nephews, David Berry, Rocky Catchings; and nieces, Angel Berry and Christy Berry.

Funeral services are at 1:30 p.m. today, Nov. 25, in the J. Avery Bryan Chapel with Dr. John Carter of Charity Baptist Church officiating.

Burial to follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Visitation is today, Nov. 25, 2009, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Kimberly Blakes

Kimberly Blakes, 38, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in Chattanooga.

Cecile Elsea

Cecile Elsea, 78, of Graysville, died Monday Nov. 23, 2009, at Soddy-Daisy Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Burial will be in Pleasantview Cemetery.

Phillip Kidwell

Phillip Kidwell, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at his residence.

Arrangements will be announced by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga Inc.

Herschel Mashbern

Herschel Troy Mashbern, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at his home.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served with the 3rd Marine Division as a medical corpsman in the South Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired from TVA after 39 years of service. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. He was recently honored as Deacon Emeritus for 40 years of service as a Deacon at Oakwood Baptist Church.

His parents, P.A. and Inez Mashbern; brother Kenneth Mashbern; and Evelyn N. Mashbern, his wife of 59 years preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Edwards Mashbern; sister, Frances Mitchell; four children, Allen (Jeannie) Mashbern, Kathy (Edd) Hancock, Jeanni (Gilbert) Highlander and Leah (Scott) Hunsucker; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; as well as the Edwards, Turner and Hunsucker families who embraced him as one of their own.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Oakwood Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Clark officiating.

Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Oakwood Baptist Church, 4501 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.

Rhonda Morgan

Rhonda Lynn Morgan, 23, of Ooltewah, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009.

She was member of Community Missionary Baptist Church in Apison, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held today, Nov. 25, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Fletcher Farris officiating.

Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends today 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Efford Norris

Efford J. Norris, 91, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009.

Arrangements will be announced by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Tabitha Norton

Tabitha Dawn Reno Norton, 31, of Canton, Ga., (formerly of Soddy-Daisy) went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, after a short illness.

She was a previous Cherokee County Music Teacher and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

She graduated from Soddy-Daisy High School and was a member of the band and chorus and was also a member of the Chattanooga Girls Choir. She continued her musical talent at Berry College in Rome, Ga., where she was member of The Berry Singers and Sigma Alpha Iota.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Mary Wilson and Aunt Ruth Mills. Survivors include her husband, Justin D. Norton, Canton; son and daughter, Malachi and Mary Ruth Norton, Canton; parents, Tracy and Laura Reno, Soddy-Daisy; grandparents, Mildred and Noah Reno and Eva McDade, Soddy Daisy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Butch and Rebecca Norton, Canton; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jacob and Lindsay Norton, Richmond Hill, Ga.

She will be greatly missed by several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her extended family of The Daisy Church of God.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, from Hopewell Baptist Church (Sixes Community).

Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Hamilton Memorial Gardens Chapel on the Hill in Hixson

The family will receive friends today, Nov. 25, 2009, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Aileen Pinson

Aileen Pinson, 89, a lifelong resident of East Ridge, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, in a local health care facility.

She was the daughter of the late Robert and Effie Posey. She was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church and the Chapel Sunday School Class. She was a retired nursing assistant 3rd Floor of Memorial Hospital with 15 years of service.

She is survived by daughter, Shirley Neely and her husband, George E. Neely, of McDonald, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Dorinda Hodge and her husband, Danny Hodge, of Dallas, Ga., Karen Neely, of Scottsville, Neb., and Robert E. Neely and Dr. Katheryn Neely, of Woodstock, Ga.; one great-grandchild, Alana Neely, of Woodstock; sister, Willie Jean Moss, of East Ridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.

Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lorene Sims, 81, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in a local hospital.

She was a member of Daisy Church of God. Lorene retired from the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Local 711.

Survivors include several cousins and special friend, Don Whitener.

Funeral service is at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 25, 2009, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Grant Chauncey officiating.

Burial will follow at Chancey Cemetery.

Green Whisnant Jr

Green Whisnant Jr., 61, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009.

Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. CST Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, with Brother Anthony Martin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. CST Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009.

Bonnie Ayers

WINCHESTER — Bonnie Sue Ayers, 62, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009.

Survivors: sons, Gary and Don; brother, Marvin Brannon; sisters, Evelyn Hamby, Clara Fay Vestal and Iva Bolin; and grandchildren.

Her funeral is at 2 p.m. CST today at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Brother J.D. Spencer officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Garner Cemetery.

Edna King

TRACY CITY — Edna Mae “Susie” King, 45, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, in a Nashville hospital.

She was the daughter of the late J.T. and Mary Parson Copeland, and brothers, Archie Copeland and Carl Parsons.

Survivors include her daughters, Angie King, Casey King and Kayla Johnson, all of Tracy City; brothers, Ronnie Copeland, Tracy City, and Charles E. Parsons, Manchester, Tenn.; sisters, Rose Orange, Tammy Shrum and Charlotte Copeland, all of Tracy City; and two grandchildren, Callie Brooke Huffstuttler and Summer Johnson.

Funeral services are today at 2 p.m. CST at Pryor Ridge Church with the Rev. Bobby Winton and the Rev. Mike Rigsby officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery.

Charles McNichols

COLUMBIA — Charles Delos McNichols, 79, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Columbia.

The Hamilton County native was the son of the late Richard Wallace McNichols and Gladys Elaine Stephens McNichols. He attended Hamilton County schools and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Theresa Curtis; daughter, Susan Stephanie (David) Hancock, of Columbia; a son, Charles David (Sabrina) McNichols, of Lyles; a sister, Charlotte Veale, of St. Claire Shores, Mich.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be noon today at Oakes & Nichols.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors.

Delores Snyder

PIKEVILLE — Delores Jane Snyder, 57, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at her home.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert “Bob” White; mother, Edith White Dennis; a sister, Margaret White; a brother, Cotton Williams; and stepfather, Leroy Dennis.

She is survived by her husband, Calvin Snyder; three children, Tina Skyles, Roho Skyles and Bob Skyles; grandkids, Turk Wilson, Tyler Roberts, Kurt Smith and Tracy Orr; a brother, Scotty White; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews and Many Beloved Friends.

Family requests no flowers but donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. CST in the chapel with the Rev. Danny Lee officiating.

ROSSVILLE — Horton Bennett Abbott, 78, departed this life Monday, Nov. 23, 2009.

He was born in Lookout Mountain, Ga., to the late Horton and Mary Alice (George) Abbott, and was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred, Marcel, William; sister, Ola Gilbert; and wife, Betty Abbott.

Survivors include his son, David (Regina) Abbott, of Ringgold; brother, Ralph Abbott, of Rossvile; sisters, Mary Lee Adkins, of Rossville, Myrtle Abbott, of Flintstone; grandchildren, Mikkel, Kellie, Kala; special niece, Nancy Adkins; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, in the chapel with the Rev. Roy Cope officiating.

Interment will follow in Little River Cemetery in Mentone, Ala.

Family will receive friends after 3 p.m. today, and prior to the service Friday.

Virginia Jones

ROSSVILLE — Virginia L. Jones, 89, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009.

She was of the Church of God faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar K. Jones Sr.; one son, John L. Jones; and two brothers, Ira Lee and Ralph Lee.

Survivors include four children, Oscar Kenneth Jones Jr., Terry Eugene Jones, Janice Mae Jones and Karen Darlene Mastin; 10 grandchildren; four brothers, John H. Lee Jr., Paul E. Lee, Terry G. Lee and Franklin D. Lee; three sisters, Jeanette M. Crick, Geraldine A. Cobb and Janice R. Lauer; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Crick, Russell Ford and Pastor John Headrick officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

LaFAYETTE — Sherrol Louise Penson, 65, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009.

Barbara Wright

CHICKAMAUGA — Barbara “Bobbie” Wright, 72, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009.

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga & North Georgia areas and attended Bethel Baptist Church. She was employed with Rossville Bank for more than 25 years and will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Alfred and Gertha McKeown, and brother, Cletus McKeown.

Survivors include her husband, Hewitt Wright; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Brenda Wright, all of Chickamauga, Ga.; stepson, David Michael Wright, of Rossville; two stepdaughters, Angie Templeton, of Rossville, and Lisa Wright, of Rossville; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with the Rev. Charles McElhaney officiating.

Burial will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

The family will begin receiving friends after 4 p.m. today, no visitation Thursday, but they also will receive friends on Friday before the service at the funeral home.

IDER — Randall Black, 39, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at his residence.

Randall was a member of Rising Fawn Holiness Church. He was a 1988 graduate of Ider High School and owned and operated Rocking R Saddlery.

Survivors include, wife, Jenni Black; daughters, Alicia Black, Allison Black and Lindsey Black; parents, Shelton and Linda Black; sisters, Karen Adkins, Amy Spurgeon, Emily Wooten (Jason) and Sara Culpepper (Chris), all of Ider; brother, Denny Black (Lisa), Murfreesboro; grandparents, Eskell and Faye Hawkins, Trenton; in-laws, Vondell and Glenda Plunkett; brother-in-law, Jeff Plunkett, all of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

DUTTON — Ernest Claude Cisco Jr., 64, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at his residence.

Burial will be in New Canaan Cemetery.

Brownie Head

FLAT ROCK — Brownie Sue Head, 85, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009.

Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Angela Head; stepgrandsons, Zachary and Jackson, all of Fort Payne; and sisters, Myrle Welden and Maxie Smith (Roy).

Funeral services are today, Nov. 25, at noon CST at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Brother Charles Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Beulah Chapel Cemetery.
