Chris Friberg
Chris Friberg, 39, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009.
Chris was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harvey Aures.
Chris is survived by his father, David Friberg; and mother, Judy Friberg; grandparents, Rosemary and Charles Friberg and Helen Aures; brothers, Chris’s twin, Kevin, and Karl Friberg.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, 316 North Bragg Ave., Lookout Mountain, TN 37350, with Pastor Joe Novenson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 until service time on Tuesday at the church.

Gordon Horn
Gordon McCoy Horn, 66, of East Ridge, passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, in a local hospital.
He was born March 22, 1943, in Talladega, Ala., to the late Gerdon and Mary Frances Horn.
He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia “Pat” Horn; son and daughter-in-law, James and Melody Horn; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Clyde Moses; daughter, Sharon Horn; grandchildren, Jessica, April and Christian Horn and Sean, Devin and Cody Moses, all of East Ridge; three sisters; and one brother also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, in the East Chapel with Minister Richie Stone officiating.
Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Dee Hundley
Dee Hundley, 81, died peacefully at a local hospital on Thanksgiving morning Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, with her family by her side.
She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga. On Dec. 8, she would have been married 63 years to Raymond Hundley. She and her husband operated Rickey’s Restaurant for 50 years, where her warmth, friendliness, beautiful smile and wit made everyone feel welcomed and at home. She and Raymond retired in 1990 and since have spent their days living downtown on the river. They enjoyed their wonderful, caring friends of the Shriners Red Fez Club. Actually, Dee and Raymond enjoyed doing everything life had to offer as long as they were doing it together. She was a wonderful woman, friend and mother and will be deeply missed by many.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Hundley; daughter, former Hamilton County Commissioner Brenda (Tag) Bailey; daughter, former designer model, Sharon (Neil) Sobel; sister, Katherine Johnson; one grandson; one great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel with the Rev. Billy Dean and the Rev. Jim Watkins officiating.
Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Catherine Harvey Johnson, 70, of Hixson, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2009.
Catherine was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and a graduate of Hixson High School. She was a former employee with TVA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude “Johnnie” Johnson; a brother, Henry Harvey; and her parents, Elbert and Nora Harvey.
Catherine is survived by her two children, Debra (Tommy) Thomas and Gene (Lynne) Johnson; six grandchildren, Amanda (Kyle) Branum, Blake, Cassie and Hunter Thomas, Chris and Wes Johnson; five siblings, E.C. (Barbara) Harvey, Frances (Ronald) Johnson, Bobby (Connie) Harvey, Edna Mae (Lamar) Parrott and Edwin (Joy) Harvey, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today and 1-2:30 p.m. on Monday at the North Chapel.

Margaret Geraldine “Gerry” “Mimi” Toomey Engle Lawson, born March 14, 1935, went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, Nov. 26, 2009, at her daughter’s home with family at her side.
Preceded in death by husbands, John David Engle Sr. and Albert L. Lawson; parents, Henry Clay and Della Toomey; and brother, A.E. “Athol” Toomey.
Gerry graduated from Tyner High School in Chattanooga and Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn. She worked in the mobile home business, Sertoma Learning Center and H.T. Hackney. After traveling with Al “Peanut” Lawson for several years, they settled in Beverly Hills, Fla., where she was an officer in the Elks Lodge Does Drove #232. Gerry was of the Baptist faith. She loved people and spent many years caring for others and staying in contact with friends.
Survived by son, David Engle and wife, Renee; daughter, Diane Payne King and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Lauren Payne Scarbro and husband, Jay, Jenna Engle, Jeremy Payne, Lauren Witt and husband, Scott, Carrie Witt and husband, Derek; great-grandchildren, Griffin Witt, Jackson Witt, Henry Witt, and Harrison Witt; sister, Leda Lawrence and husband, Richard, several nieces and nephews.

She was retired from the Electric Power Board as a supervisor after 38 years of service. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Alice was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Dobbs; her second husband, Jerry Melton; and a brother, Garlon Phillips.

Aileen Pinson, 89, a lifelong resident of East Ridge, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, in a local health care facility.
She was the daughter of the late Robert and Effie Posey. She was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church and the Chapel Sunday School Class. She was a retired nursing assistant 3rd Floor of Memorial Hospital with 15 years of service.
She is survived by daughter, Shirley Neely and her husband, George E. Neely, of McDonald, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Dorinda Hodge and her husband, Danny Hodge, of Dallas, Ga., Karen Neely, of Scottsville, Neb., and Robert E. Neely and Dr. Katheryn Neely, of Woodstock, Ga.; one great-grandchild, Alana Neely, of Woodstock; sister, Willie Jean Moss, of East Ridge; several nieces and nephews.

Rev. Herbert Prescott
The Rev. Herbert W. Prescott Jr., 84, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at his home.
Father Prescott was born in Long Beach, N.J., to Herbert and Edna Prescott.
Father Prescott’s ministry included being administrator, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Germantown, Tenn.; chaplain, St. Peter’s Orphanage, Memphis; associate pastor, Sacred Heart Parish; and professor, Catholic High School, Memphis; associate pastor, Blessed Sacrament Parish, Memphis; associate pastor, Immaculate Conception Parish, Memphis; pastoral ministry to Greeneville, Tenn., missions; and principal of Knoxville Catholic High School. He was chaplain for Christian Brothers High School, Memphis; pastor of St. James Parish, Memphis; coordinator of Special Services to Exceptional Children for Memphis area. He served as pastor of Our Lady of Fatima, Alcoa, Tenn.; director of the Center for Special Education in Memphis; professor at Bishop High School, Memphis.
He celebrated Sunday Mass at St. Alphonsus Parish, Covington, Tenn., and then at Saint Paul Parish, Memphis. He was director of Memphis Catholic High School and moderator of Diocesan Council of Catholic Women for the Memphis area. He next served as pastor of St. Paul Parish, Tullahoma, Tenn.; pastor of St. Augustine Parish, Signal Mountain; chaplain of St. Mary’s Hospital, Knoxville; and the priest in charge of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Lenoir City. He also served as chaplain of Memorial Hospital, Chattanooga; pastor of St. Bridget Parish, Dayton, Tenn.; and professor of religion at Notre Dame High School; then as pastor of St. Stephen Parish.
At the time of his death he was serving as a chaplain at the Alexian Village.
He was preceded in death by his cousins, Ray Siener and Msgr. Leo C. Siener.
Survivors include his cousins, Shirley Siener, Sally Siener Cooper, Wendy Siener Kelly, Lori Siener Heagy and Mary Siener Ferguson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Stephen Catholic Church (7111 Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37421), followed by a 7:30 prayer service.

Maurice Wilson
Maurice Wilson, 93, a longtime resident of East Brainerd, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, 2009.
Maurice was educated in the Chattanooga School System and graduated from McKenzie Business College. He accepted Christ at an early age at Concord Baptist Church, where he faithfully served for many years and met his wife of 67 years, Mary Alice Howell.
Maurice served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of major during World War II, and retired as manager of Wilson Certified Foods after 42 years of service.
His parents, A.J. and Lillie Mae Wilson; brother, A.C. Wilson; and sisters, Louise Norton and Velma Cowan preceded him in death.
Maurice’s impact of love, humor and respect is felt by those who celebrate his life, especially his loving wife Mary Alice; daughters, Judy Ellington, Jean (Joe) Smallwood and Maurine (David) Ward; sister, Barbara Dooley; brother, Herman Wilson; sister-in-law, Alice Wilson; and brother-in-law, James Dooley; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

EVENSVILLE — James A. “Jimmy” Knox, 49, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, after a battle with cancer.
He was born in Rhea County and resided there his whole life. He was a boilermaker for over 20 years. Jimmy’s passion was hunting and outdoor life.
Survivors include his father, Arthur Knox; mother, Ova (Reed) Crowe; daughters, Jamie, Jessie, Jenny and Jordan Knox; sons, Tristan Knox and Darrin May; sister, Robin Knox; nephew, Estan Knox; niece, Drew Bowman; and great-nephew, Zander Kutil.

Myrtle Roberson
PIKEVILLE — Myrtle Lee “Miss Myrtle Lee” Roberson, 89, departed this life Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at her home.
She was born in Pikeville to the late Virgil and Maude Walling Wheeler. She owned and operated R.D. Roberson Grocery Store for 47 years and continued in the grocery business until her retirement. She was a member of College Grove Church of Christ, on the board of directors of First National Bank of Pikeville, a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Organization and Bledsoe County Senior Citizens.
Miss Myrtle Lee was preceded in death by her husband, R.D. Roberson Jr.; sisters, Anna Belle Hale, Mary Farmer, Mamie Ruth Marsh and Katherine Hamilton; brothers Brainerd, Faith and Virgil Wheeler Jr. She is the last surviving sibling of the Virgil Wheeler Sr. family.
She is survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, caregivers and friends.
She will be truly missed by everyone she knew and loved.

ROSSVILLE — Norma Rebecca Chambers, 85, passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 25, 2009, at a local hospital.
She was born in Cleveland, Tenn., in 1924, and was a lifelong resident of Rossville, where she was a member of South Rossville Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and a wonderful Mamaw. She was loved by all who knew her and will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob A. Chambers; grandson, Todd Hull; and son-in-law, Danny Hull.

TUNNEL HILL — Junior Edwards, 60, formerly of Dickenson County, Va., died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at 11:21 p.m. at his home surrounded by his loving family after a four-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was a disabled veteran, a member of North Georgia Baptist Church who had lived in Tunnel Hill for the past 25 years.

RINGGOLD — Mack Ivan Hill, 78, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, in a local hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Ringgold and was a member of Delray Baptist Church. Mr. Hill was owner of Mack Hill’s Auto Sales since 1984. He was a member of the Quitman Masonic Lodge #106 F&AM. Mr. Hill was very active with his church, community and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Rosa McKeehan Hill; and a daughter, Carolyn Ruth Hill.

RINGGOLD — Catherine “Cathy” Khottavong, 40, passed away Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 in a local hospital.
She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her father, Clarence E. Hinds.
Survivors include husband, Thong Khottavong; children, Sean, Angela and Ryan Khottavong, all of Ringgold; mother, Linda Hinds; sisters, Gina and Kimberly; and brother, Gary Hinds; nieces and nephews.

Dr. James Rainwater
TRENTON — Dr. James Henry Rainwater, 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009.
He was a lifelong resident of the Tri-State area and a member of Berean Baptist Church, Trenton. He was employed by Siskin Steel for 11 years before being called to the ministry. He was the pastor of Robertsville Baptist Church, Mineral Park Baptist, Victory Baptist Temple, Ohio, and Berean Baptist Church, Fla. He was a professor at Covington Theological Seminary from 1981 to 1983 and Bethany Bible College and Seminary, Dothan, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Elbert and Estel Rainwater; and brother, Euel C. Rainwater.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Stella Rainwater; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and George Cooper, of Rock Spring, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Pam Rainwater, of LaFayette, Ga.; sister, Vera Duke; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Betty Rainwater, all of Alabama; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends all day today and prior to the service Monday.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor James Jones officiating.
Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens-South, Rossville.

ROCK SPRING — Ira. F. Randall, 77, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009.
He was born in Birmingham, Ala., on Aug. 8, 1932. He was a foreman with World Window Cleaning Co. for over 30 years and was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church. He spent many years in Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Mielnicki; two sisters, Shirley Magnuson and Ira Belle Tart.
Survivors include his loving wife, Edna Randall, of Rock Spring; stepdaughter, Debra Rambo, of Indiana; sister, Charlotte Kriss, of Indiana; three grandchildren; and many close friends.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gene Voss officiating.

LaFAYETTE — Kenneth Eugene Thornton, 73, died Wednesday evening, Nov. 25, 2009, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Lou Hilburn Thornton; and father, Fred E. Thornton.
He is survived by two sons, Kenneth E. Thornton Jr. and Christopher A. Thornton; one daughter, Donna R. Wilkey; grandson, Connor Thornton; one granddaughter, Kyla Wallin; and a very special friend, Jessie Paul.

Evelyn Tudor
ROCK SPRING — Evelyn Goodlet Tudor, 86, born and raised in the Rock Spring and Chattanooga areas, passed away Nov. 24, 2009, at the home of her wonderful caregiver, Ms. Fran Holder, after a prolonged illness.
Although she was married in Houston, Texas, where she worked as a medical secretary at the Veterans Hospital for many years, upon retirement Evelyn returned to Chattanooga in 1990, committing herself to the care of her family. As the youngest of five children, Evelyn was devoted to her four siblings, all of whom lived long productive lives. The love she and her husband Harold demonstrated for family, particularly their special needs nephew, John Elvis Goodlet, served as an example for all to witness.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Tudor; her parents, J.C. and Annie Goodlet; her brothers, Jim and Ralph Goodlet; and her sisters, Blanche Bullard and Audrey Conner.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and she will be remembered always as a loving, thoughtful and humorous lady who never put herself first.
The family will receive visitors at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe from 12:30-1:30 p.m. today prior to a family graveside service at 2 p.m. at Peavine Baptist Church Cemetery, not far from the original home place in Rock Spring.
