Wright Brothers Construction Co. Inc. of Charleston, Tenn., has been awarded a $55 million highway project that will add lanes and improve bridges on an 8-mile section of Interstate 20.

The Alabama Department of Transportation has awarded the contract with work to begin within the next 30 days.

Wright Brothers President Stephen Wright said the project could generate as many as 100 new jobs in the Birmingham area.

“We are proud to have the opportunity, with our Alabama partners, to participate in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act program,” Mr. Wright said.
