Local banks and businesses often tout a community-centered philosophy, but longtime Chattanooga banker Linda Mosley lives it.

She is a member of the Hamilton County School Board, chairwoman of WTCI Public Television and holds board positions with numerous civic and nonprofit organizations.

These are in addition to her full-time banking career.

Mrs. Mosley recently joined Cornerstone Community Bank as its newest vice president and relationship manager in the Downtown/Miller Plaza office. The job will allow her to do more of something she enjoys -- interacting with people.

"By being here, I'll be able to be more one on one with customers," she said. "The smaller banks, the community banks like Cornerstone, want to help the smaller business owner that has ... good strong financials, and we can give them more personal service and work more closely with them."

Mrs. Mosley joined Cornerstone after leaving First Tennessee Bank, where she worked for 13 years. Cornerstone approached her with an opportunity that turned out to be just right for her, she said.

From Cornerstone's point of view, the relationship has worked out great, said Frank Hughes, president.

"She is a banking professional who has the talent to balance taking care of our customers, while not exposing the bank to excessive risk," he said. "She also believes in 'team,' which makes her a valuable addition to Cornerstone. Add to the mix her civic involvement, and you have the complete package."

Mrs. Mosley started her banking career in 1972 sort of by accident. She worked her way through college at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education. Soon after completing school, her husband, Buddy, was transferred to Portland, Ore., and she continued working in banks there.

A resident of Ooltewah, Mrs. Mosley represents District 7 for the school board and holds board positions with Blood Assurance and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga.

She's also a member of the Downtown Rotary Club, chairwoman of the Youth Exchange Committee and a member of the East Hamilton Ruritan Club.
