Marguerite Daniel
Marguerite Vick Daniel, 88, of Hixson, died on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009.
She was the daughter of the late Leo and Maude Vick. She was a graduate of City High School and a member of First Baptist Church Golden Gateway. She was past president of the Pharmaceutical Auxiliary and was selected Woman of the Year by the State of Tennessee. She was a member of Valleybrook Golf and Country Club. She was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Erlanger and was a purchasing agent at the gift shop. She was past president of the East Ridge American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by husband, Alton C. Daniel.
She is survived by one daughter, Vicki Daniel White and her husband, Roger; four grandchildren, Diane Lockman and her husband, David, Barbara Pouliot and her husband, Shawn, Dan Binkley, Allen Binkley and his wife, Julie; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters.
A family gathering will be held on Saturday morning at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Hamilton Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Terri Lowe officiating.

Marie Euler
Marie E. Euler, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, in a local hospital.
She was born Feb. 13, 1922 in Nelma, Wis., to the late Wallace and Lucy Norris Cornwell.
Mrs. Euler was a member of Grace Baptist Church and the Maranatha Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Gideons International.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Marvin Euler; son, Dr. Steve Euler and his wife, Mary, of Chattanooga; daughter, Tammi Steward, of Knoxville; grandchildren, Dr. Steven Euler, of Dayton, Ohio, Peter (Laura) Euler, of Charleston, S.C., Katherine (Ben) Fisher, of Sale Creek, Elizabeth (Tommy) Dull, of Fayetteville, N.C., Taffi (Jeff) Davenport, of Lucerne, Tenn., Terri (Cory) Troyer, of Columbus, Ind., Evan Steward, of Minneapolis, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Tabitha and Jacob Davenport, Bailie and McKenzie Dull and Taylor Fisher.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Harris Sturmer and the Rev. Bill Summers officiating.
Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Mildred Gresham
Mildred Gresham went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009.
She was a loving and caring person devoted to her family. She was a member of O.L.P.H. Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Gresham; parents, Robert and Willie Mae Daniels.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Emily (Darnell) Baker, from Chattanooga, Tara Patton, from Ringgold, Ga., Lisa (Edward) Torregano, from Laurel, Md.; three devoted nieces Bea (Emanuel) Thompson, Bridgette Benford, Jacquelyn Benford, of Chattanooga; four sisters, Ruthie Mae Holmes, Gladys McFarlin, of Detroit, Mich., Brenda Hightower, from Atlanta, Sharon Daniels, from Chattanooga; two brothers, Knovey (Angela) Daniels, and Orlando (Deborah) Daniels, of Chattanooga; four granddaughters, Tiffany (Darryl) Cox, from Nashville, Teisha Baker, from Murfreesboro, Chiara Patton, from Ringgold, Imani Torregano, from Laurel, Md.; one grandson, William P. Johnson; and five great-grandchildren, Michael Battle II, Taylor and Kayla Cox, Tyshawn Dean, Tiara Chanthavong, and numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral Mass services will be held on Monday, Oct. 12, at 9:30 a.m. at O.L.P.H. Catholic Church.

Carolyn Holder
Carolyn Ruth Holder, 70, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, in a local healthcare facility.
A native of Hixson, she was a member of Delashmitt Baptist Church and a retired CPA. Carolyn was the widow of William Holder and was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Bash; parents, R. D. and Grace Nelson Creasman; and sisters: Elsie Couch, Wilma Hackard, Jean Wolfe and Florence Petty.
Survivors include her son, Matthew Forsythe; sisters, Faye Sharpe and Linda Patterson; several nieces and nephews; Gracie Bryden Forsythe, her granddog golden retriever and the late Toodles, her poodle.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. today at Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel with the Rev. Walter Patterson and the Rev. Ronnie Smith officiating.

John Gene Holland, 58, Hixson, passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009.

William Hope
William Marcus Hope, 86, of Ooltewah, died on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009.
He was the son of the late Charlie and Edna Holbrook Hope. William was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WW II and loved to work.
Survivors include his sisters, Patsy Hudson, Hixson, Jo Ann Swafford, Cleveland, Bobbie Sue Coonrod, Leesburg, Ohio; brother, Edgar Hope, Eton, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Tony Lounds
Tony Lounds, 65, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2009.
He was a member of Olivet Baptist Church. He retired from the city of Chattanooga. He was a member of the Army National Guard and assigned to the 586th Engineering Company (FB) where he served a tour in Vietnam. He was also assigned to the 181st FA BN and served a tour during “Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He retired June 2006 after serving 24 years of Honorable service.
He was preceded in death by parents, Johnny and Willie Mae Lounds; brothers, Johnny Jr., Ronald, Donald and Thaddeus Lounds; son, Steven Young; and daughter, Tonnetta Carlisle.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Gracie Lounds; daughters, Audrey (Byron) McClure, Angela Young, Powder Springs, Ga., Tonnetta Lounds, Nicole Young, Jacksonville, Fla., Elleanor Young; sons, Edward Lebron Young and Raymond (Iris) Lounds. nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, 12:30 p.m. at Olivet Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin L. Adams Sr. officiating.
Visitation will be after noon today at Reuben Strickland Memorial Chapel.

Edwin C. Lundien Sr., 86, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at a local nursing home.

Kenneth Marsh Sr.
Kenneth Wayne Marsh Sr., 70, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 7, 2009 after a long fought battle with brain cancer.
He was loved dearly by so many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Born on Dec. 13, 1938, he was raised and resided in Hixson. Kenneth was a dedicated Christian and was a longtime member of Hixson First Baptist Church. He was also known by many as a jack of all trades. He was a brickmason and homebuilder for most of his life as well as a member of the Home Builders Association for many years. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, a private pilot, and a classic car enthusiast. He was the most kind and generous person and his optimism was contagious throughout the last few years of his life.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Watt Marsh; father, Charles Marsh Sr.; and stepfather, Avery Watt.
Kenneth leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary Jean Marsh; three children, Kenneth (Becky) Marsh Jr., of Soddy-Daisy, Judy (Jim) Altheide, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Tommy (Patty) Marsh, of Hixson; three siblings, Charles (Betty) Marsh Jr., Betty Sue (Jackie) Davidson, and Charlotte (Jack) Randles, all of Hixson; father-in-law, W.T Buckner, of Decherd, Tenn.; sister-in-laws, Rose (John) Stutz, of Hixson and Kathy (Chip) Phillips, of Nashville. Six grandchildren, Brandi (Matt) Gowan, of Ooltewah, Danielle Altheide, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Hannah and Holly Marsh, of Hixson, Douglas Altheide, of Shelbyville, Tenn., and Derek Altheide, of Ottumwa, Iowa; two great-grandchildren, Maddie Grace Gowan and Ariel Altheide. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the North Chapel with Pastor Joel Wood officiating.
Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Billy T Marshall
William Toy “Billy T” Marshall III, 70, of Hixson, passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at his home.
He was born in Durham, N.C. and has been a resident of Hixson since 1977. He retired from Eckerd’s Drugs in 1981 after 25 years and opened Billy T’s Signs in Hixson in 1980. He was an honorary member of Kappa Sigma Alpha Iota Chapter.
He was a member of Burks United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, William T. Marshall Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Pat Marshall; mother, Frances Marshall; daughter, Hope (Bryan) Freytag; son, Tom (Rebecca) Marshall; grandchildren, Savannah Marshall, Chance Freytag, Halyn Marshall; sisters, Sandra (John) Biddle and Priscilla (Ray) Allen and several nieces and nephews.

Varnell McGhee, 61, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Estella Hope; father, Reginald McGhee; and seven siblings.

Dorothy Nave
Dorothy Miles Nave passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at the Martin-Boyd Christian Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Nave Sr.; and her son, Harold “Butch” Nave Jr.
She is survived by daughter, Sandra (Keith) Johnston, Ooltewah; daughter-in-law, Dianne Nave, Ringgold, Ga.; grandchildren, Dawn (Korey) Hood, Cincinnati, Ohio, Heather (Ronnie) Adams, Dunlap, Tenn., Hunter (Andrea) Johnston, Holly (Eric) Kittle, Ringgold, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Maria Johnston and Morgan Hood, Emma and Drew Adams and Hannah Johnston. Mrs. Nave is also survived by her loving Nave family members.
She was a bookkeeper working at Archer Paper Co., Vandsco Posters and the IBEW Credit Union, as well as with her husband at Harold Nave Co. When her husband was diagnosed at the age of 55 with Alzheimer’s Disease she worked hard to keep him structured and functioning for 15 years before turning his care over to others. Mrs. Nave moved to the Martin-Boyd Christian Home in 2005 where for the next four years she enjoyed socializing with her friends and participating in many activities and outings.
Dorothy was a member of Tyner Church of Christ.
Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Minister John Cupp officiating.

Patricia Kathleen Parris, 75, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009.
She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was a member of Lookout Valley Church of the Nazarene. Her passion in life was being devoted to her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Beatrice Morgan; husband, Tommy Parris Sr.; and two brothers, William and Ed Morgan.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Parris and Kathy Parris; three sons, Tom “Buster” Parris, Joseph Parris and Jimmy Parris, all of Chattanooga; brother, Oscar Morgan, of Trenton, Ga.; two sisters, Ianna Poe, of Soddy-Daisy, and Brenda Baumgardtel, of Utah; grandson, Richard Duane Parris; and several nieces and nephews.

Catherine Pierce
Catherine Bentert Pierce, 70, a resident of Chattanooga, passed away Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, in a Chattanooga health care facility after a prolonged illness.
Mrs. Pierce was the daughter of the late Eleanor Cahill Bentert and Joseph Bentert. Her husband, Russell Lee Pierce also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Pierce was a registered nurse and enjoyed working with newborns. She spent most of her adult life in Memphis, Tenn., where she raised her two children. She enjoyed Bridge, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and friends. Mrs. Pierce attended St. Therese of Liseux Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Julia Pierce Finley, of Chattanooga; her son, Mark Pierce and his wife, Jennifer, of Cordova, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Nicholas Jeffrey Pierce, Catherine Pierce and Reilly Earlene Pierce; her sisters, Margaret Abraham, of Homewood, Ill., and Maryjo Stankiewicz, of Bradenton, Fla. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mass of Resurrection Service will be conducted Friday at 11:30 a.m. from the St. Therese of Liseux Catholic Church with Father James Vick officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Joe Pucillo
Joseph “Joe” Charles Pucillo, of Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at age 94.
Mr. Pucillo was born Aug. 2, 1915, in New York City and lived in Somerset, N.J. for over 50 years. Joe married Louise Rose Magliochetti, the love of his life, who predeceased him in 1988, after 50 years of marriage.
Joe and Louise owned a flower shop in Astoria, N.Y. before moving to New Jersey where, for many years, they owned Pucillo’s Florist in Somerset. Starting from scratch, they both worked to grow flowers and a successful business until 1968 when they retired to travel. Even at 94, Joe’s hobby was still plants and flowers.
Mr. Pucillo was very active in his community and in local politics. For many years, he was a council member, mayor and a Somerset County Freeholder. In addition, he was a member of the Elks Club, Lions Club, Volunteer Fireman, Reserve Police Officers, South Bound Brook Reformed Church, Red Bank Cumberland Presbyterian Church and several other groups in New Jersey. Always ready to help others, Joe was the proud recipient of many awards for his civic activities. These awards gave him great pleasure.
Surviving are his children, Louise and Paul Hammerl, of Chattanooga and Rosanne and William Beam, of Laguna Beach, Calif.; grandchildren, Bruce Campbell, Susan Muzer and Christine Bauer; great-grandchildren, Tyler Borchert, Jarrid and Jordan Muzer, Melissa Alfone, Joshua and Alex Campbell, Nicholas Bauer; great-great-grandchild, Mason Borchert.
A memorial service for Mr. Pucillo will be held in New Jersey in the spring.

Lem Reddick
Lem Reddick, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009.
Lem was born in Calhoun, Ga., and has been a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. He was a 1941 graduate of Chattanooga High School and served our country during World War II in the U.S. Army. Lem owned Lem’s Body Shop in White Oak for many years, the Orange Hut Restaurant in Red Bank, and Lem’s Used Cars. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church and was a member of the Alhambra Shrine.
Lem is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Bell Reddick; two sons, Lance (Pam) Reddick and Larry Reddick; five grandchildren, Tyler, Storey, McClain, Justin and Jordan Reddick; stepgrandchildren, Josh Reddick and LeAnn (Buddy) Gross; stepgreat-grandchildren, Jacob, Myles and Bella.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the North Chapel.

Corinne Spears Silas, of Chattanooga, lost her long battle with cancer early Friday morning, Oct. 2, 2009. She passed away in her sleep after spending the evening surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Douglas Spears, co-founder of the law firm Spears, Moore, Rebman, and Williams.
Corinne was a graduate of Girls Preparatory School and Mount Vernon Junior College. She also attended Emerson College in Boston and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
She is survived by her mother, Corinne Webb Spears, of Lookout Mountain; sister, Jean Spears Hallowes, of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; two children, William Spears Spurlock, of Chattanooga, Katherine Landis Spurlock, of Memphis; two grandchildren, Bryan Stewart Schwarz and Alexandra Landis Schwarz, of Memphis; a nephew, Bordon Rhea Hallowes, of N.Y.; and a niece, Suzanne Lynn Hallowes, of Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at 3:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Sam Payne officiating.
Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service.
Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

He was a faithful member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Ira Branum Jr.
DUNLAP — Ira Branum Jr., 88, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, following cancer surgery in Chattanooga.
Ira graduated from Central High School, Chattanooga in 1938 and the University of Chattanooga in 1942, with a degree in chemistry. He worked for Riley Tire Company in Indianapolis, Ind., until he was inducted into the U.S. Army, where he served as a research chemist. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a chemist for the Chattanooga Medicine Co. He was a resident of Bledsoe County, for 61 years as a farmer. He was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying hiking and photographing natural wildflowers.
Preceded in death by his father, Ira A. Branum; mother, Mattie W. Branum and sister, Inez (Frank) Beavert.
He is survived by nephews, Ralph (Jill) Smith, Tupelo, Miss., and Ira David (Margaret) Smith, of Nashville; nieces, Marilyn Hollihan and Robin (Dan) Albaugh, both of Memphis; four great-nephews; four great-nieces; one great-great-nephew and five great-great-nieces.

DAYTON — Clara Lee Wilson, 83, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga following a brief illness.
Clara was born June 9, 1926 in Dayton to the late Joe and Della Dyer Potter.
Clara was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed traveling and the many lifelong friends she acquired as a military wife, and continued into retirement. Among her many interests, she was a master seamstress and crafts person who shared her special gifts with family and friends. Clara was a woman of faith who participated in activities together with fellowships at Spivey United Methodist Church, having membership since childhood. She lived her life by the Lord’s Golden Rule, instilling these values in her children.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, J.B. Wilson; her daughter, Joyce (Herb) Johnson, of Billings, Mont.; sons, Steve (Myra) Wilson and Randy (Sherri) Wilson, both of Dayton; sisters, Neve Morgan, Wanda Yother and Thelma DeVault, all of Dayton and Betty Woodard, of Fort Meyers, Fla.; brothers, Julian Potter, of Atlanta, Carlos Potter, of Chattanooga and Phillip Potter, of Dayton; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The memorial service for Clara will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Spivey United Methodist Church in Dayton with the Rev. Bill Ewing officiating.

TRION — Robert Earl Bowling, 37, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009.
A lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, he was a member of Community Baptist Church in Rock Spring, Ga. Rob was a honorary member for Dry Creek Coon Club. From a young boy, Rob enjoyed coon hunting with his father, brother and many friends. Rob also loved the beauty of a walking horse and the joy of working his farm. Rob was a proud and loving husband and father who will be missed deeply by his loving wife and children.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Trinity Morgan; and grandfather, Robert L. Bowling.
He is survived by his wife, Stefanie Fults Bowling, of Trion, Ga.; children, Avery Bowling, of Ringgold, Ga., and Trucker Bowling, of Trion; mother, Joyce Reed Marcus, of Ringgold; father and stepmother, Stanley and Donna Bowling, of Ringgold; grandmother, Betty Jo Bowling, of Ringgold; grandparents, Robert J. and Roberta J. She was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area and was of the Christian faith. She was previously employed with Cutter Laboratory for more than 23 years before retiring in 1983 and was last employed at the Dinner Bell Restaurant as the Hostess. She was best known and loved by her family and friends as “Granny Kat” and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Rachel Helton; brother, Gene Helton; and grandson, Kenny Kittle.

Mrs. Copeland was retired from Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mill, Summerville, Ga. After retirement she moved to Ringgold, Ga., where she worked at Wendy’s.

She was a wonderful caring Christian lady that always thought of others first.
She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
