Sequatchie County collision kills 2, injures 1

An early morning collision killed two men and injured another in Sequatchie County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Christoper Yeargan, 42 of Niota, Tenn., was traveling southbound on Tennessee Highway 28 near the Marion County-Sequatchie County border in his 2009 Ford pickup truck at about 1 a.m. CDT. Mr. Yeargan then entered the left lane and collided head-on with a 1995 Chevy pickup driven by Rangal Bridges, 54, of Pikeville, Tenn., according to operator Rich Thomas of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Both men were transported to North Valley Hospital in Dunlap but had already died, Mr. Thomas said.

Sonny Simmons, a passenger in Mr. Bridges’ truck, was flown to Erlanger hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Sunday, Mr. Thomas said.

Both drivers had been drinking but drugs are not suspected in the incident, Mr. Thomas said.
