Surgeon Tipps receives honor

Dr. Wayne E. Tipps has received the 2009 Presidential Achievement Award of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Tipps’ “efforts on behalf of the specialty at the national, regional, state and local levels reveal his passion for oral and maxillofacial surgery and the patients he treats,” said the group’s president, Dr. R. Lynn White.

Dr. Tipps is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and served as a member of the ABOMS examination committee, and was president of the Chattanooga Area Dental Society, and the Tennessee and Southeastern Societies of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Tipps received his dental degree from Emory University and completed his OMS residency at Emory’s affiliated hospitals.

He is in private practice in Chattanooga.

Firm gives center helm to Mitchell

Blake Mitchell has been named service center manager of Arrow Exterminators’ Chattanooga service center.

He is a graduate of Chattanooga High School who has been with Arrow for more than five years.

Mr. Mitchell and his wife, Beth, have two daughters.

Shallowford gets BOC Printing

BOCPrinting Business Center last week celebrated its opening of a Shallowford Road storefront.

The business is at 6925 Shallowford Road in Fountain Plaza.

BOC offer printing, copying, faxing, graphic design and free Internet, according to a news release.

Neiman named to Life Care post

Kimberly Neiman has been promoted to Life Care Centers of America’s vice president of interior design.

She previously served as an interior designer for the Cleveland, Tenn.-based health care company. She is an interior design graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and has been with Life Care since 1997. She lives in Cleveland.

“With the increase in the aging population — and in the nature of the work we are called to do in Life Care — an increased focus has been placed on developing ways to improve the living environment of the elderly population, which takes into account health and accessibility issues,” said Life Care President Beecher Hunter. “Kimberly understands that well-designed interior spaces can create positive changes in people’s lives. Her leadership of this important department will serve our residents — and our staffs — very well.”

Life Care operates more than 220 nursing, subacute and Alzheimer’s centers in 28 states.

Wheeler tapped as sales manager

Stacy Wheeler has been promoted to senior sales manager at The Chattanoogan hotel in the Southside area of downtown Chattanooga.

She will take on added responsibilities with the sales team and oversee group contracts.

She will also continue managing corporate transient business and will work in the Chattanooga, Knoxville and Dalton markets.

She has been at The Chattanoogan for nearly five years and most recently had been a sales manager. Before joining the hotel, she was assistant event coordinator for the Bluff View Art District.

She is a hospitality management graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi.

SouthEast Bank opens branch

SouthEast Bank and Trust last week held a grand opening of its new full-service branch at 9218 Lee Highway in Ooltewah.

Linda Roark, Yvonne Hobbs and Gretchen Collins will serve as vice president, assistant vice president and customer service representative, respectively, in the newly opened office.

SouthEast Bank and Trust is a locally owned community bank with offices in McMinn, Meigs, Rhea and Hamilton counties.
