General Shale schedules layoffs in Spring City

SPRING CITY, Tenn. — The General Shale plant that opened in August will lay off 19 employees as of Oct. 30, according to plant manager Bill Alvis.

He said 10 employees will remain at the plant for customer service, security and shipping. He said General Shale has produced 9 million since production began.
