Deep, rich shades of purple, blue, brown, green and orange lead the way in the season's hottest makeup colors.
Elea Blake Cosmetics owner Darin Wright, a former model and makeup artist, said the vibrant hues are reflections of fall.
On a recent hike, Ms. Wright painstakingly photographed trees, plants, fruits, vegetables, soil and other images to to help her create her fall line of eyeshadows, blushes and lipsticks.
"Mother Nature is my inspiration," she said, noting that the deep, almost black, purple eyeshadow she manufactured was prompted by a muscadine grape. She calls the shade Muscadine Wine Time and "it packs a punch," she said.
Among her fall shades are Bolder Than Bold, a rich, brown inspired by fertile soil; Put Some Sas in that Fras, based on golden leaves; Eco Green, reflecting a green grape and promoting conservation; Orange You Glad It's Autumn, inspired by burnt orange leaves; Plum U, a soft blush; and Iris Thinks I'm Hot, the color of rich berries.
"Don't be afraid of color," Ms. Wright said. "Color enhances everyone."
