Webb to direct EPB legal services

Aaron Webb, senior vice president of legal services at Life Care Centers of America in Cleveland, Tenn., is joining the executive staff at EPB.

Mr. Webb is the new vice president of legal services for the city-owned utility. He fills the job formerly held by Aldous McCrory, who left in October 2008.

In addition to heading legal operations for the nation’s largest privately owned nursing home chain, Mr. Webb also served as vice president of operations for Leader Care, a sister company to Life Care Centers of America. He previously worked with Fidelity Investments and Star Bank in Cincinnati before earning his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville.

In Cleveland, where he lives with his wife and three children, Mr. Webb is co-chairman of the United Way of Bradley County campaign and a member of the board for the YMCA of Bradley County.

“Aaron’s expertise and leadership skills will be great assets to EPB and we are pleased that he has joined our executive team,” EPB President Harold DePriest said.

Bradley selected as team captain

Covenant Transport has announced that professional driver Francis Bradley has been selected as a captain for the Tennessee Trucking Association’s road team. He was one of nine candidates seeking one of six open positions, a release said.

The road team serves as an ambassador of the trucking industry, it was stated.

Mr. Bradley will serve an 18-month term as he represents Chattanooga-based Covenant and the trucking industry at speaking functions and public engagements around Tennessee.

Lundquist named medical director

Dr. Tom Lundquist recently joined BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee as vice president of performance measurement and improvement of health care services.

He will be the lead clinician who is focused on measuring and improving the performance of the health care delivery system for BlueCross members in Tennessee, a news release said.

“Throughout his career, Tom has demonstrated a deep passion and commitment to help change the way health care is delivered and to improve quality for everyone accessing the system,” said Dr. Robert Mandel, senior vice president of health care services for BlueCross. “His dedication is deeply consistent with our own transformational goals for Tennessee.”

Dr. Lundquist previously served as vice president and chief medical officer of Wexford Health Services.

He graduated from Pennsylvania State University and his M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Island Cove gets key Tracker honor

Island Cove Marina and Resort, located in Hixson on the shores of Lake Chickamauga, was recognized recently by the Tracker Marine Group as a top ten dealer worldwide.

A news release stated the dealer rankings are based on retail sales volume along with outstanding customer service.

Arthell and Carolyn Gray, Brian Mays and Terry Kelley accepted the recognition on behalf of Island Cove at Tracker’s national dealer conference at Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Mo.

The release stated this was the fifth year for Island Cove’s carrying of Tracker Marine branded products.

Tracker Marine Group, based in Springfield, Mo., is the manufacturer of a variety of Tracker boats and other products. The company was founded in 1978.

Cassidy, Himelright named by BlueCross

Dr. Richard Cassidy and Dr. Inga Himelright have been named to posts at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, the Chattanooga-based health insurer.

Dr. Cassidy was named vice president and chief medical officer for health care services. Dr. Himelright was promoted to associate chief medical officer for the division.

Before joining the Tennessee plan, Dr. Cassidy was the vice president of medical management for BlueCross BlueShield of Florida, where he managed statewide care coordination and medical operations as well as statewide quality improvement and accreditation activities, a release stated. He received his bachelor’s and medical degrees from Wilkes University-Hahnemann University Cooperative Medical Program.

Dr. Himelright previously served as BlueCross’ regional medical director. She has served in multiple leadership roles at the University of Tennessee Medical Center over the last 15 years, including clinical associate professor. Seven years ago, she became vice president and medical director over patient safety and performance for the hospital and oversaw the areas of case management, performance improvement and infection control.

She is a graduate of Stephens College and completed medical school and her residency at the University of South Florida. She also completed a post-graduate fellowship in the division of infectious diseases and tropical medicine.

Jade Dodds joins Miller & Martin

Jade D. Dodds has become an attorney in the Chattanooga office of the law firm of Miller & Martin. She practices in the firm’s litigation department.

She attended the University of Tennessee College of Law where she concentrated her legal studies in advocacy and dispute resolution. She has previous experience as a research assistant to Professor and Justice Emeritus Penny J. White of the Tennessee Supreme Court.

Before joining Miller & Martin, she served as a summer judicial clerk to U.S. District Court Judge Curtis L. Collier in the Eastern District of Tennessee.

Barge Waggoner wins salute

The Tennessee chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects has presented two awards to Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon Inc.

The Summit of Softball Complex in Chattanooga received an honor award in the category of the Built Environment: Parks and Recreation. A news release said Cherokee Removal Memorial Park in Meigs County received the merit award in the historical or cultural category.

Barge Waggoner’s Chattanooga office designed the Summit complex along with Chattanooga-based Neuhoff Taylor Architects.

Barge Waggoner’s Chattanooga office and Chattanooga-based Derthick, Henley & Wilkerson Architects were responsible for the design of the park.

Barge Waggoner is an engineering, architecture, planning, landscape architecture and surveying firm with offices in Tennessee, Alabama and Ohio.

Link named to BlueCross post

Michelle Link has been named vice president of human resources at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.

A news release stated she will oversee talent acquisition, training, organizational development, compensation and benefits for more than 5,200 employees at the Chattanooga-based health insurer.

“We’re very excited that Michelle is joining our team,” said Ron Harr, senior vice president of human resources and public affairs for BlueCross. “Her level of experience in the HR and health care fields will truly be an asset to our diverse employee population and to the company as a whole.”

She previously served with an Ohio-based management consulting firm on a number of HR projects. She also has previous experience with Cigna where she was responsible for five call/claim centers, including the Cigna facility in Chattanooga.

Christina Lane receives award

Christina Lane has received the top sales producer award from Greg Petree at Express Mortgage & Insurance at 8052 Standifer Gap Road. She has previously received the award.

Express Mortgage will be celebrating its 10-year anniversary next month. It has received the BBB complaint free award since its opening.
