Chattanooga: Group files lawsuit to stop annexation

by Cliff Hightower

Hamilton County Residents Against Annexation filed a lawsuit today in Hamilton County Chancery Court to stop Chattanooga's annexations from taking place.

The suit includes the first areas of annexation, including the Ramsgate subdivision and an area in Big Ridge.

The suit does not include an area of Cummings Cove and that will officially become part of the city on Friday.

“This is only the beginning,” said Kyle Holden, president of the anti-annexation group. “As more communities annexed by ordinance face their deadlines for filing, we will file suits to protect those communities. We believe this is a winnable effort and we are resolved to see it through.”
