LOL. Yeah, beware of sobriety.

Can I quote you on that?

BTW, thanks for telling all the drunks and illegal aliens were the checkpoints are going to be so they can avoid them. That is definitely NOT a smiley face...not even a small one.

In the interest of public safety, I definitely recommend full removal of this article. Only lawbreakers need fear these checkpoints and YOU are enabling them by printing the information.

Well if the police department has "released this information" then the CPD more than likely wanted this information out! So call CPD or your other local PD to complain if you'd like! :) Enjoy your Halloween!

^To the misinformed "know-it-alls" that are lamblasting the Free Press for publishing this article - I invite you to visit the exact same article published by the Tennesee Department of Transportation, released 10/27/09 at approximately 3:00p. That website can be found here:

Before you speak so boldly about the idiocy of another, maybe you should check your own first... just a word to the wise.

I don't plan to be driving drunk or without my license, but I will certainly avoid those locations because I don't want the inconvenience and indignity of being stopped and asked for "my papers" like in Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union.

If someone is driving in such a way as to be a danger to others, then pull them over and find out if they are sober or under the influence of drugs, or just plain incompetent. If they are doing something wrong, write them a ticket or arrest them as appropriate. But leave law-abiding citizens who just happen to be driving through the "wrong" area alone.

Beware of facism. If you are an American citizen you are property of the state. If you drive on the public highways you have no civil rights. The pigs can stop you, search you, breathalize you, drug test you, hold you without bond or trial, beat you for "resisting" arrest, strap you down in a chair in jail....and it's all perfectly legal.

Just because the PD releases info -- to meet some idiotic law passed by our leaders, no doubt -- doesn't mean the media must publish it. Our media publishes ONLY what it pleases, indian.

On-topic in a way -- since we are talking about media responsibility to the public -- here is a tidbit from LAST AUGUST. We are just now finding out about it...I ask WHY?

"Obama appoints 2 devout Muslims to Homeland Security posts"

Sorta makes me feel all fuzzy and warm. Yeah, right.

I dont understand why you always tell people where these checkpoints will be, this just gives those "doing this stuff" get away with it. I thought check points were just that to see whom you can find breaking the laws, instead you just help them avoid them by not going down that road.

October 29, 2009 at 10:08 p.m.

well I'm sure that out of all the people who drive around in these areas don't listen to the news, or ready the Times Free Press, or get the info anywhere else. There will be plenty of ppl checked tomorrow night, you can count on that! Gotta give the coppers something to do besides chit-chat with the young girls hanging around the bars late at night :)
