Hamilton County officials call on city to reconsider stormwater fee increase

Hamilton County Mayor Claude Ramsey and Commissioner Bill Hullander asked the city of Chattanooga today to take another look at its stormwater fees, which recently increased substantially.

Mr. Hullander said he met with small business owners Thursday before the commission meeting who said their fees had gone up by nearly six times.

For homeowners, the rate increased from $24 or $36 per year to about $115. The $115 is for every 3,200 square feet of property for businesses.

Michael Grant, president of Grant-Neil Electric Co., said his fee had gone from $500 to $2,900.
