Chamber events

North Chattanooga: The North Chattanooga Chamber will meet Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre, 400 River St. The speakers will be Lt. Eric Tucker and Lt. Danna Vaughn of the Chattanooga Police Department discussing ways to prevent crime during the holiday season. The cost of lunch is $10.

Downtown: The Downtown Chamber will meet Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at the Sheraton Read House, 827 Broad Street. The speaker will be Stephen Culp, chief executive of Smart Furniture. The cost of breakfast is $10 for members and $12 for non-members.

Southside: The Southside Chamber will meet Thursday at noon at the South Chattanooga Recreation Center, 1151 W. 40th Street. The speakers will be Maxine Bailey and Julie Davidson of the Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy. The cost of lunch is $10.

Seminars, meetings

Get Plugged In - The Chamber will sponsor a seminar to explain the benefits of Chamber membership Tuesday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the Chamber Board Room.

Networking - A networking session will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. at Market Street Solutions, 25 Cherokee Blvd.

Business Tax - The Tennessee Department of Revenue will hold a business tax seminar on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the department's Chattanooga office, 540 McCallie Ave., in conference room 607. The workshop is designed to help those new to business taxes and will include business tax and sales and use tax. Free Enterprise Society - Junior Achievement of Chattanooga has will hold the sixth annual Free Enterprise Society Breakfast Banquet Thursday at the Chattanooga Convention Center. The event will feature speakers with first-hand experience of communities touched by Junior Achievement's efforts including a Brainerd High School student and her volunteer from EPB. Business Coaching - ActionCOACH of Chattanooga will host events Thursday at the Creative Discovery Museum and the Majestic 12 opening. The speaker will be Keith Beddingfield, who has 30 years of business experience in sales and marketing and received the Reader's Digest Public Speaking Award. Office Relationship Training - First Things First will sponsor an emotional and relational intelligence training seminar Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Chattanoogan hotel. The speaker at the seminar will be Gary Oliver, the executive director of The center for Enrichment and Professor of Psychology and Practical Theory at John Brown University. The cost is $75. Business Planning: The Tennessee Small Business Center will host a free seminar to cover basic business planning, financial projections and legal entity on Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. For more information or to register call 756-8668.

Reality Check: The Chamber's school-to-work program to help ninth-graders grasp the connection between scholastic success and future income will be at Soddy-Daisy High School on Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. To volunteer for this program or to help present, contact Cathy Humble at 756-4321 or chumble@chattanoogachamber.com.

Business Advice: Free business help available from members of SCORE, Counselors to America's Small Business, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday through Thursday at the Franklin Building, suite 515, 5726 Marlin Road, at Eastgate Town Center. For more information, call 553-1722.

Business Planning: Free counseling for business people available from the Chattanooga Small Business Development Center, 100 Cherokee Blvd., suite 202. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays.
