VW will ban tobacco, smoking

Volkswagen's production facility in Chattanooga will be tobacco-free, according to the company.

"Volkswagen Group of America is dedicated to being a green plant, and that includes providing a safe, clean, and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors and visitors," said Hans-Herbert Jagla, executive vice president of human resources for VW's Chattanooga operations.

Consumption of tobacco or tobacco products will be prohibited on company property, including offices, grounds, sidewalks, parking lots, streets and VW vehicles. Volkswagen said it will provide smoking cessation assistance to employees.
