I’ve always loved Pyrex stuff ... all those glass dishes that went easily from the freezer to the oven during my childhood. My mother went back to work full-time when I was in seventh grade and on those nights we didn’t take advantage of eating with the boarding students in the McCallie School dining hall, it was nice to be able to pull a homemade casserole from the oven and let it bake on low in the oven for a couple of hours. Just one pan needed. With the advent of the microwave, those Pyrex dishes did triple duty.
In years since, other companies have made numerous copies, but I always default to Pyrex. It’s become a generic name almost for any glass dish.
Not a company to sit back and rest in its laurels, Pyrex has now introduced a line of handy glass storage dishes. They come with lids, just like your Tupperware. But in this case, they can go from freezer to microwave or oven. And they’re great for tailgating, too.
Pyrex Bake, Serve N' Store line features two glass dishes — one holding 2 cups and another close to five. They have two lids — one glass and the other snap-on plastic. A clever design. Prices start at $8.50. But for $31.99 you get a 12 piece set. Great for kids in the dorm, moms in a hurry and brides in waiting.
