Chattanooga: Man arrested in connection with motorcycle fatality

Officials arrested a 25-year-old in connection with Friday’s traffic fatality at 1700 Daughtery Ferry Road in Sale Creek.

Witnesses and crash reconstruction led Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office investigators to arrest Dustin Levi, who was booked on a charge of criminal homicide, said sheriff’s office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson in a news release.

Investigators determined Mr. Levi had been drinking and was involved in a family argument that continued throughout Friday, Ms. Atkinson said. During the argument, he allegedly ran on and off the road in front of his home, daring drivers to hit him, Ms. Atkinson said.

Deputies learned Mr. Levi was in the road when Donald Williams drove by on his motorcycle. Mr. Williams’ motorcycle made contact with Mr. Levi, causing Mr. Williams to lose control, go off the road and travel about 51 feet before striking a tree, Ms. Atkinson said.

Mr. Williams was pronounced dead at Erlanger hospital.
