Dustin Levi, 25, was arrested on charges of vehicular homicide and reckless endangerment in connection with a Sept. 4 fatal motorcycle crash.
The man investigators say caused a fatal traffic accident Friday by standing in the middle of a road and daring motorists to hit him now faces charges of vehicular homicide and reckless endangerment.
Dustin Levi, 25, "had been drinking and involved in arguments with his family that continued throughout the day," said Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.
Sheriff's investigators determined Mr. Levi was on Daughtery Ferry Road in front of his Sale Creek home when Donald Williams drove by on his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle and apparently touched Mr. Levi, Ms. Atkinson said.
Mr. Williams, 59, lost control of his motorcycle, left the road on it and traveled about 51 feet before striking a tree, Ms. Atkinson said. He was pronounced dead at Erlanger hospital.
His supervisor remembered Mr. Williams, who worked as director of information services at Hutcheson Medical Center in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., as someone who loved life, his family and motorcycles.
Hutcheson Chief Financial Officer Doug Volinski said Mr. Williams was "passionate about his wife and family, passionate about his work, passionate about motorcycle riding. He gave of himself and was always smiling."
Mr. Williams always rode his motorcycle carefully, so news of the accident and subsequent arrest came as a shock, Mr. Volinski said.
Mr. Williams' family members did not return messages left for comment late Wednesday afternoon.
Witnesses and investigators' crash reconstruction at 1700 Daughtery Ferry Road led to the arrest of Mr. Levi, who is scheduled to appear in Hamilton County General Sessions Court on Sept. 17 in Judge Ronald Durby's courtroom.
On July 29, Mr. Levi pleaded guilty in Hamilton County Criminal Court to leaving the scene of an accident with damage to a vehicle, according to court records.
He was scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 23 to answer to two counts of domestic assault in connection with an incident in April, records show.
In June 2004, he pleaded guilty to a Class C felony reckless endangerment and was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days in the workhouse, which was suspended on supervised probation, court records show.

I only hope that some day in the future, Mr Levi gets to comprehend and grasp the amount of pain and loss he has allegedly caused.. Don Williams was a friend to so many..
Ironically, Don would have been the guy that stopped to see what he could do to help Mr Levi at his time of need.. Don ends up giving his life for him... This was a man that always had smile and time for anyone that asked..
There are people from all over the country that have met Don are are proud to call him "Friend"
Such a sad and tragic loss for such a senseless reason.. I guess I can only have faith that God had a better plan..
So much good to say about Don...
RIP my friend... I miss you..
"Scumbag Lives while Good Man Dies" should have been your headline.
Unless I read the report wrong, it seems that law enforcement was at the residence of said scumbag earlier in the day, wrote a report describing him as "extremely intoxicated and unruly."
He was not arrested at that time. WHY NOT?
If the report (not reported on the CTFP website, rather by Chattanoogan.com)is correct, it would appear that someone in law enforcement did not do the job of protecting the public. It doesn't take much to assume that had said scumbag been arrested,a "Good Man" would still be alive.
An investigation into actions of the Law Enforcement agency involved should be on the next Grand Jury agenda. Let's not have another internal investigation that covers-up improper conduct by Law Enforcement.
How about Mr. DA? Have you got the brass ones to investigate and prosecute malfeasance?
Don Williams was a kind and gentle man. We (many) and the world have lost a great friend.
This person that took Don from us needs to be locked up for along time. He has caused enough damage. He is a threat to society. It is obvious he has been given chances to change. It is time for him to pay for his crimes. Enough is enough.
God bless Don and his family, you are not alone.
RIP my friend

Don was involved with motorcycle clubs and organisations that prided themseleves in helping others stay safe on bikes. There are thousands of people from all over the country watching this case and how the local DA and law enforcement handle this case. Don was a great man that loved to ride and spend time with his friends. A man that loved and cared for his family, community and friends was taken from us. The fact that Don was killed at all was very tragic, when I learned that Don was killed from a man that wanted to take his own life it became tragic and criminal! If the reports that this young man jumped in front of a moving vehicle to take his own life is true then he should be prosecuted and hopefully found guilty to spend the maximum amount of time incarcerated.
I agree with what Randy had to say about our dear friend. "I only hope that some day in the future, Mr Levi gets to comprehend and grasp the amount of pain and loss he has allegedly caused.. Don Williams was a friend to so many..
Ironically, Don would have been the guy that stopped to see what he could do to help Mr Levi at his time of need.. Don ends up giving his life for him... This was a man that always had smile and time for anyone that asked..
There are people from all over the country that have met Don are are proud to call him "Friend" (I myself am from Gulfport MS)
Such a sad and tragic loss for such a senseless reason.. I guess I can only have faith that God had a better plan.."
Mr. DA please do the right thing. Put Levi behind bars so that he can't cause anymore pain and suffering for other people.
Don was a friend to many he knew him . He was the kindest person I know of. He would always be the first to help anyone out & expect nothing in return. This you man should get the stiffest penalty possible for what he did to Don. His record shows that he is a troubled young man that has had chances to get his act together. He should not be given anymore chances. You can't keep giving chances to someone who can't even help himself. Throw the book at this kid , No More Chances ! There is a big hole in many hearts because of his actions. Don , We Love You & Miss You My Friend ! RIP & Godspeed !
We lost a very good friend this past week. Don Williams was a great man, who always was there to lend a helping hand or a friendly smile. With just one smile from Don all your troubles seemed to just float away. His life was taken to early, from someone that has had plenty of chances to make a change in his life but Mr Levi chose to keep being a nuisance to society and needs to be punished once and for all. Letting this POS out free would be a slap in the face to all of Don Williams family and friends and to the Justice system. Do the right thing.
Don Williams was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was known by people across the country as a man who selflessly went out of his way to care for others. Given the chance, Don would have done whatever he could to help a person in need, including Dustin Levi. Tragically, Don's life was cut short by a ridiculous act of cowardess. I was proud to call him my friend, and will always miss him.
Dustin Levi has had his chance to fit into society and lead a productive life, but has not chosen to do so. As a citizen of Hamilton County, I encourage the District Attorney to prosecute this case aggressively and request that the penalty for this crime be the maximum allowed by law. Anyone who, through such a selfish action, takes an innocent life should be stripped of his freedom for a long, long time. Many people from all over the United States are following this case, waiting for justice to be served.
It is a shame he was taken from us. He was a great man.
RIP Don
Dustin Levi not only took Don Williams the man, but Don Williams the father, Don Williams the husband, Don Williams the Brother, Don Williams the uncle, and Don Williams the great friend of so many who were blessed to have known him. This young man has had many chances to change his life around. I hope the judicial system will not allow the life that was stolen of Don Williams to become just another chance that Dustin Levi will be allowed to dismiss. Don would have wanted to help this young man if he could have. He probably would have pulled over and talked to him and helped him back to his house so that he wouldn't have hurt himself or others. Don, we miss you so much. God speed and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Don was taken from us by a person who had no regard for life at all, including his own. Prosecution should be firm and the maximum sentences allowed should be enforced. It is a shame that a family has lost a good man to another's ignorance and lack of respect for human life. I live in Kansas, and he touched even my life through the use of his inspiration and love of the motorcycle.
God Speed Don
i knew Don from a motorcycle message board. he would post pictures of his rides, his times fishing, enjoying life with a smile, always spreading joy to others.
as a motorcyclist i have a strong feeling as to someone being held accountable for their actions in causing an accident against a motorcyclist. i know there are unavoidable accidents, what i mean is by being on the phone while driving, drunk driving, not stopping at stop signs. but what this man did was intentionally neglect the safety and life of others.
I've known Don for years, proud to call him a friend, ridden with him and admired everything about him. He was one of the kindest, sweetest and most positive people I've ever known, always smiling, always happy, always looking at the bright side of life and living each day to the fullest. We should all aspire to be 1/10th the human that Don was. He didn't have an enemy in the world, and as others have stated, Don was the type that would have stopped to help a mixed up guy like Dustin Levi, but instead he lost his life to someone that not only valued his own life so poorly, but obviously didn't care about anyone else.
I hope justice is served. Don didn't deserve this, and his family and friends' lives are forever changed due to the actions of Dustin Levi, a guy with a history of making bad decisions that affect others with no remorse.
this guy should fry just as if he had shot him...don was a great person, loved by many, always had a smile on his face and a helping hand...I will always remember my friend and his pictures and our ride Todd S. Mishawaka Indiana
He was a very active and much beloved member of an engaged responsible, motorcycle community, a wonderful Father and grandfather for many years and was well respected in his position as director of information technologies. Don will be missed by many people from around the country and mostly by his wife and children. Dustin Levi has to be put away for many years to think about what he has done. Don's Family and Friends from around the country will be watching this case to the end and expect Justice to be served. We will miss you my friend, God Bless.
Don had a positive influence on many. He always smiled and offered a helping hand. Don will be missed by many. My prayers to Don and his family.

I only met Don a few months ago, but I could tell from the incredible turnout at his funeral that he was a wonderful husband, father, friend, and mentor. He was always smiling and happy to be alive. I hope that Dustin Levi gets what he deserves and can never again be the cause for so much pain.
Don was a great friend to all he met and to those who he just knew through conversation. He always had a smile and would do anything to help anyone out. He lived life to it fullest and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
We all miss you Don and will always have you on our minds when we enjoy the open roads as you did.
Rest in Peace my Friend

The news of Don Williams death devastated my family and a whole motorcycle riding community. He was a great man that will truly be missed each and every day by his family, friends and anyone that knew him. It is my sincerest hope that Dustin Levi gets the maximum penalty for his crime. Please visit www.hayabusa.org to learn what Don Williams meant to so many.
RIP my friend....I love you.

Justice for All will be served when Levi can touch both walls while standing in his PERMANENT new home, a prison jail cell. DA Bill Cox I implore you to try and convict this case with ALL the same passion that Don instilled in every single person he touched while visiting across this great nation!

Rayabusa0818(Don) you will never be forgotten..
Hopefully justice will be served this time around and they put this scum away for along time..
God Bless you Sherry we mourn with you and your family..

I've known Don for a short 3 years. Don was the kind of man I aspire to be. Don was one of the few people you meet in life who has your back no matter what. His honesty and integrity was without question. Don enjoyed life more than anyone else I know. Dustin Levi is everything that Don was not. Society will be much better off without Dustin Levi in it. If there is any justice, they will throw Levi under the jail and throw away the key.
Don, you are missed my friend. Dennis (St. Louis, Missouri)
This scumbag deserves everything that is coming to him. This bag needs to be delt with and not givien the opportunity to be on this earth any longer. His actions took the life of a great man. Now the pain Don's family and friends have to go through because of this is unaccepable for what Mr. Levi has done. Don, though many of us have never met you in person, but have spent countless hours with you onthe org, we love you, we know yu are with god know doing what he called you for. May god be with Don's family and freinds through this hard time. Don' will never be forgotten and will continue to ride with us always. RIP my brother. "RIP IT AND GRIP IT"
May justice be served to the one that has caused all the heartache in the lives of Don's family and freinds.
Please do not allow this "criminal" to walk free among the good tax paying empathetic members of society. Too often we see that criminal behavior is treated with a slap on the wrist. Probation or a reduced sentence in this case would be a travesty of justice. A good man who served his country was killed by a "man" with no respect for himself, let alone another life. Making an example of Levi would be a good way to handle this. Again, don't let this clear menace to society continue to potentially harm others. Mr. D.A. Bill Cox, the ball is in your court. Do not let the tax payers down. We expect results in this case. No excuses and no BS!
B Lamb (San Diego, Ca.)
Being a Police Officer I have too many times seen what criminal activity has done to the innocent. This incident has taken place hundreds of miles away from me but is no less devastating as if it was my investigation into a great friends untimely demise. I can only pray that God helps the Williams family cope and deal with this tragedy.
Don Williams was a true great friend to me and hundreds of others. Those that have met him are better people because of it. His smile and demeanor was always cheerful. One simply could not be in a bad mood or depressed in his company. For his life to be taken by an act of cowardly criminal negligence and reckless disregard by an intoxicated dreg of society makes coping only more difficult.
I would ask you, D.A. Bill Cox, to seek the MAXIMUM SENTENCE with NO PLEA BARGAINING for this defendant. He has had a chance to redeem himself in the past and failed. He is a recividist and the only proper action to be taken is a lifetime of incarceration.
Chas. (New York)
The outpouring of Don's friends and those he touched is amazing.
I suggest that mass phone calls to the DA's office would be appropriate beginning Monday, Sept 14th.
Here's the information you need. Tell your friends and other riders to call.
District Attorney General Bill Cox 600 Market Street, Suite 310 |
Chattanooga, TN 37402 |
Phone: (423) 209-7400
Let the DA know this cannot be swept under the rug. Be sure and ask the DA why the scumbag Don Levi was not arrested earlier in the day when Law Enforcement Officers wrote a report describing him as "extremely intoxicated and unruly."
WHY WAS HE NOT ARRESTED THEN?
Had he been a biker, drunk and disorderly, he would have been arrested in a moment.
Please, let all your riding friends across the nation know what happened and ask them to call the DA.
Don't let your voice go unheard! Get the attention this case deserves. A mass ride-in to the DA's office in Chattanooga is warranted BEFORE the DA decides if and how to prosecute. After his decision is made (and it's decided by the good old boy network of lawyers, politicians, and prosecuters for the sake of expediency, not justice) a ride-in will be too late.
Remember, let all your riding friends know about this. If you don't look out for your fellow riders, and Don was obviously a good man, well-respected and well-loved, don't expect justice.
Monday morning, 9:00 am EST, burn up the telephone lines with your calls for justice. (423) 209-7400
This could be the most important call you'll ever make.
From sitting along a road in the beautiful mountains of TN., or eating with friends, or sleeping with his new grandbaby on his chest.....you will never find a picture of Don without a smile on his face. His smile, attitude, and outlook on life captivated everyone who met him. A TRUE friend to those around him. He's a guy who has never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Don's life was taken WAY too soon.
May God bless his wife and children! He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
I'll see you again, my friend.

I still cant believe Don is gone. Don and my father served on the same ship in the Navy, I used to talk to him all the time and in some ways he reminded me of my father. He was a good man and a good friend, I will miss you dearly Don. Why is it that people who are dangerous to others are left to run around and cause these kinds of things. Why was this young man not incarcerated? Again, I will miss Don and I hope Mr. Levi gets reminded every day what he has taken from this world and the pain he has caused.

I was to have met Don at a group event in a week. It is crystal clear to me how much I have missed by not getting to meet him. It was very obvious how special he was to everyone he met.
It's a simple concept. You break the rules, you are punished. At least it used to be a simple concept. Now it seems like those rules don't apply. People like Dustin Levi can break the law repeatedly with no sense of true consequence. He obviously had the impression that the rules didn't apply to him and that the world revolved around him. Troubled or not, he broke the rules. He must be punished. Maybe in a day or a week or a month he may have turned his life around but he didn't. He made a choice and regardless of his remorse or personal issues, he must be punished.
Don was a son, brother, veteran, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, friend to hundreds, and so much more. He deserves justice. It's time for the rules to be followed.
It's a simple concept.

The victim Don Williams was very well liked and a credit to the community. This is a very sad day for all his friends and all the people that had not met him yet. Accidents happen, but this was not an accident, and the full penalty available should apply, and if not in this case, then when??
Don Williams was a tremendous individual, a friend to everyone he ever met, and someone who helped anyone in need.
My only hope is that the individual responsible for his untimely death will be found guilty of all charges and sentenced to the maximum time and fine.
this is a very heart breaking story. This good man's life was taken by intoxicated stupidity. Now his family and friends are left grief stricken and with an unfulfillable void.
Don was one of the most well respected people that I know. He would help anyone without even thinking about it, that was just the way he was. Don was the happiest person I knew, with his family, job and friends, I never heard him say anything negitive about anyone or anything. Don was one of my best friends. We rode all over the place together and had many great adventures. He was a joy to be around. I will miss him greatly.
Please do everything in your power to lock levi up for good, he doesnt need to be out to destroy any more lives. It is obvious from all the testimonies above what kind of man Don was. Please do the right thing with this case, it is very important to many people.
RIP Don, I will miss you.
Tim
This guy's total disregard for his own life and the life of others must not go unpunished. Don's life was taken for what, driving home obeying the laws that are supposed to protect him? We can't change what happened, but the judicial system should make an example of Mr. Levi so Don's death was not in vain! Don was a good man and didn't deserve this!

Don was taken by a senseless act. It is just incomprehensible why something like this had to happen. Accidents are one thing; an intentional cause is mindboggling. This person does not deserve any lieniency(sp?) and needs the "book" thrown at him. He has proven, by his history, that he does not deserve to live among decent people. Sad case indeed that needs to be treated as what is was, a deliberate, senseless act against an innocent person! RIP Don and condolences to his wife and family!
i want the number to the prosecutors office, so I can tell them we want justice for don's death
Don was one of the nicest people you could have ever known, and would do any thing for anyone, He will be missed dearly.

I never got to meet Don in person...however, let it be said that the positive effect he had on others was far-reaching. If everyone in the world had Don's optimistic outlook, cheerful smile, and obvious love for his fellow man, we'd all be living in a far better place.
It seems absolutely unfathomable that the dramatic life of Mr. Levi splashed onto all of us...and permanently stained us with loss.
Rest easy, Don. The world is championing justice in the case of your early departure.

I met Don Williams over 3 years ago at a function (Spring Busa Bash) coordinated by members of the online sportbike riding group, Hayabusa.org.
Since this first meeting with Don, he has been a friend and brother to me. Always smiling, always ready to ride and always willing to help anyone who needed it. Don was caring for his fellow man and I never once heard him say anything rash about someone else. I used to love riding the skyway with Don just to get rice krispy treats at a gas station at Telico Plains. Just the simple things in life was all he needed for happpiness and I admired that and began to emulate this in my own life. I could go on and on with this line of comments.
I sincerely hope the DA does the right thing by prosecuting this irresponsible act on the part of MR Levi. If you feel the need to take your life, just take YOUR life! Because of Levi's ill judgement and actions, I have lost a VERY DEAR FRIEND and I am so mad and hurt all at the same time.........
Don, you are sorely missed and it is gonna take a VERY long time to get my mind around this. God, why did this have to happen? I am jealous, even though it is a sin, because God, you have him and we don't............
I am just sick with grief, I feel guilty that I wish Levi had died instead of my buddy!
First and foremost Don Williams was loved. Loved by his family, loved by his rider family, loved by his friends, and loved by God. What was there "not" to love about Don Williams ?. It is a sad day when a man that gave so much was put in a fatal situation by someone throwing a tantrum while intoxicated. A situation that ultimately caused the young man no major loss, but left a very large group of people affected and without a loved one, suffering with the loss.
This young man, if bail was allowed to be posted, was home sleeping in his own bed very shortly thereafter with a commitment to the courts to return and face charges. My friend was laying in the morgue. The young man probably got up the following day and had breakfast, and tried to sort through the chain of events of the days past. My friend laid motionless. The young man probably made a myriad of excuses in place of explanations, rationalizations and justifications, throwing blame in all directions. My friend doesn't have that luxury, nor would he indulge in behaviors such as these.
Some of the causes of change in human beings lives are simply the consequences of their actions. If one can take responsibility for one's actions, then one has the power to learn from his mistakes and make positive changes. Unfortunately Don's days of learning life's lessons, and making changes are over.
What will be the consequences of Mr. Levi's actions ?. What will our Justice system say to Mr. Levi out of responsibility to the law of this great land ?. He's the one that has to live with himself knowing full-well that he, and he alone, stole the joy from so many lives and caused the death of another human being. I do pray that whatever punishment they deem appropriate for his crimes, it never ever allows him to forget that night or what transpired.
To the District Attorney: I will pray that your case is in order, that your efforts prove fruitful, and that justice will be served. I am not seeking revenge or restitution for Don William's death, but that Mr. Levi be held "accountable" for his actions. It wasn't the alcohol consumed, nor the lack of ability to control his anger that took Don William's life, it was Mr. Levi's actions. Let us see that he never finds reason, or has the opportunity to make those choices ever again.
"Don, I will miss your smile, your joy, your spirit, your humor, your depth, and most importantly your love that you shared with so many". God Bless You my friend.
I only had the pleasure of meeting Don in person on one occasion, but he showed himself to be an excellent rider and an even better friend. I hope Mr. Levi spends a long time behind bars. Don was a man who went out of his way to help others, because it made him feel good to do so. I witnessed this several times over the weekend that we spent riding, and my wife and I are proud to say we met such a compassionate, intelligent, and giving individual. To know that his life was cut short by such a poor excuse for a person, saddens us both deeply. Mr. Levi should not be allowed to make any more decisions for himself-his actions have already cost thousands of people of a dear friend, and hundreds of a loved family member.
We'll miss you Don-our prayers are with you and your family, related and riding.
To Don Williams - I thank God that you were a part of my life. I thank you for your Military Service in defending the FREEDOMS that I enjoy daily. Thank you for your Spirit In The Wind and the hugs you gave when they were oh so needed. Thank you for the escort you gave my family through The Dragon in Honor of my brother. May your Spirit forever be free on the Wings of Eagles.
To Dustin Levi - I hope this moment in time will forever haunt you! You are the cause of the loss of Don Williams and the countless suffering that will be endured by his family and his friends forever. May you pay with your loss of FREEDOM for as much time as the law allows!
To the District Attorney - I pray that you will prosecute this case to the best of your abilities and to the extent that the law allows. With a prior conviction of leaving the scene of an accident with damage, a 2004 reckless endangerment charge, and charges pending in a domestic violence case, Mr. Levi has no regards to human life let alone respect. Please make sure that this menace is removed from society and placed where his reckless endangerment will not continue to harm the public.
Forever Free, Kat Flat Rock, NC
It was with the deepest regret and most intense sadness I read about the passing of Mr. Don Williams. Very seldom in today's society are men of such caliber ever recognized with the degree of honor and respect they deserve; their humility keeps them from such occasions. How great a sacrifice now to find the passing of such genuine human integrity be meted out at the hands of a senseless drunkard, and this not merely an accident, but with intent of bringing harm, unrecognizable harm, to a great number of people other than themselves.
A death sentence levied against the thief who stole the life of Mr. Williams could never come close enough to cast even a shadow of recompense across this senseless act. Slow torture in what ever form would never awaken the awareness in Mr. Levi's senses to the pain he has caused others with his disregard for the value of human life, his own or others.
I would implore those entrusted with sentencing in the case of The People vs Dustin Levi that the people be heard, just be served, and execution swift. This would be the last and only dignity this young man deserves.
To add a comment here is the going to be the least effort, myself and many others will put in, to find true justice for our friend Don.
I have had the privledge of both riding and talking with Don 5 times in only 3 trips to the Volunteer State.
You must be told that I am from Vermont, nearly 1100 miles away and when Don said he would be waiting for us at a designated spot at a designated time, there he was.
We were sure to find our local guide and riding partner there.
That Mr Levi's negligence possibly caused the death of a great Man, Father, Friend , and Rider , shall not be overlooked for one single hour of any single day until a verdict is read.
TIMMYDUCK
Don was a great person and the loss is felt by many. RIP Don.
As for Mr. Levi, He deserves nothing less than the maximum penalty for his crime. Mr. Levi obviously has no regard for others and should be put away so he can never cause this type of loss and pain to again just because he can't handle his own pathetic life.
Don was a great man & will be sorely missed by his family & worldwide friends.
I ask, D.A. Bill Cox, to seek the MAXIMUM SENTENCE with NO PLEA BARGAINING. His prior behavior shows he has no productive place on this Earth.
If Mr. Levi was a "Real Man" he would have used a gn & not have involved an innocent man - trying to take the Easy way out.

Don was a sweet man who touched everyone's lives around him. A wonderful life was taken and his family's life is changed forever because of someone who has made poor decisions his entire life.
Don will always be remembered as a great, great person, husband, father and friend.

Talking to God
The night was dark Heavy was his heart For his Brother had gone down
He looked to the sky A tear sat in his eye Then slowly he bowed to the ground
“God I’m here to talk to you You remember me I’m sure It’s been awhile since we talked But I stand before you, once more”
“You’ve taken a most righteous brother A truer friend I couldn’t find I know it was your time for him But God, you left me behind”
“I understand you needed him But now I will travel alone I know that he’s beside you now Cause he always praised your throne”
“God, please tell him I have a message Don’t let him forget our brotherhood I know he don’t need reminding But sometimes a reminder does good”
“I don’t know how it works up there But tell him if he gets time To slide on back down here to earth To ride in spirit by my side”
“Let him know that I’ll be waiting Once again for that rebel yell The one he hollered out so often I’ll hear as the summer winds wail”
“God, there’s one more thing I need to say This is directed to you Even though we don’t talk very often One day I’ll ride with you too”
13 days later and it's still hard to believe Don is gone. I have a hard coming up with words to type here, but can't just sit by and not try to show some kind of support for the family and other friends of Don. I only met him once, but I too am a member of the .org and had the privilege of reading his posts and looking at the amazing pictures he would post from his rides. He truly was a man who loved life, lived for the moment, and never let anything hold him back. As many others have said, I can't think of a single time that I saw Don without a smile on his face.
We have all lost a good one and I SERIOUSLY hope and pray that Levi gets what he deserves for this one. He's had had more chances than he deserves to turn his life around, but he's failed miserably and now I've lost a dear friend because of it. I beg the D.A. to do everything you can to make sure at the minimum, Levi never sees the outside of a prison wall ever again. Although, in my humble opinion I don't think he even deserves that much. . .
It should be clear that Don Williams was a great person and touched the lives of many many people...many of the ones that left comments on here never had the pleasure of actually meeting the man. I did get to do that, and share in his passion for life and will always cherish that.
The person that caused his death (Levi) should be charged with murder and put away for life...he was trying to kill himself that day and he caused the death of another...how is that NOT murder? Hopefully justice will be served.
Whatever the outcome the world has lost a GREAT man.
My heart goes out to the friends and family...we all lost a true friend that day...
RIP my friend...
Rich Courtney Santa Clara, California
Don was a kind, caring loving man. Even though I never met him I know from his words and deeds that he loved life, his family and his friends. This world will be worse off with out Don in it. Rest in Peace Don, you are missed.
I had the pleasure of riding with Don Williams on several occasions. I have ridden fast street bikes since 1972 and consider myself a good rider, but thought he was better. He always wore all the safety gear and took things seriously. I could not believe something like this could happen to a good person like him, and it has really shaken me. I hope they throw the book at the dirt bag that caused this sensless tragedy.
