A man accidentally shot himself in the head this afternoon in Alton Park, Chattanooga police said.
Police on the scene said one man was injured while handling a firearm at a home on East 49th Street. His injury was to the head, but it was superficial and non-life-threatening, police said.
The man was taken to Erlanger hospital for treatment just before 1 p.m., police said.
The investigation is ongoing, police said, but nothing seemed suspicious.
