East Ridge emergency workers have evacuated half a dozen homes, some of which were breached by flood waters from Spring Creek.
Spring Creek is expected to crest at 21.5 feet on Tuesday if no more rain comes, said Officer Erik Hopkins, spokesman for the East Ridge Police Department.
“But another storm cell bigger than the one we had this morning may be coming,” he said. “
Just after noon, waters in the creek were at 18.5 feet.
We hope this is where the water stays,” Officer Hopkins said.
Earlier today, East Ridge firefighters evacuated several homes by boat. Evacuations are not mandatory but, for safety reasons, emergency workers are preventing homeowners who have been evacuated from returning to their homes, he said.
Water is slowly creeping up on the Sewanee Road home of Danny Viar.
“I’ve been living here for 15 years and this is the third time the water’s gotten this high,” he said, pointing to flood waters that were at his front doorstep.
“If we get any more rain, it’s going to be trouble.”

Send King Curtis to the rescue! He can walk on water and turn sewage into whine. He'll be in good company with everything else that floats.

Better yet, lets send it to Georgia. They've been wanting to get their hands on Tennessee water for a long time now.
