Hamilton County Republican Party Issues Statement on Annexation

The County Executive Committee of the Hamilton Co. Republican Party voted Thursday to issue a statement of opposition to current efforts by the city of Chattanooga to annex portions of Hamilton County. Citing foundational Republican principles, party leadership concluded that standing in opposition to annexation efforts is fully in line with the party's goals to hold the government accountable for making well reasoned and thoroughly planned fiscal decisions. The Republican Party strongly believes that no Government of any form should be imposed upon a people without the people being affected having a voice. Further citing the party's beliefs and values, party leadership remarked, "Individual rights, liberties, and properties are continually eroded when citizens are oppressed by excessive taxation, inflation, government waste, and over regulation." Chairman Matthew Bryant said, "Though the city council is a non-partisan body, we still see annexation as an issue that runs contrary to the very foundation of our conservative principles."

Thank you to the Hamilton Co Republican Party. Any governmental body forcing its will on those who oppose it violates the spirit under which this nation was founded. Ron Littlefield is elected by all city voters. Seemingly he lacks the intelligence to realize that he is not that popular with his current constituency and would be bringing in many new hostile voters - not the best way to continue in his current job if that is his plan.
