Braly: Better gobble up this turkey fryer

My husband and I got our first turkey fryer about 10 years ago. It was the newest of the gas models and it scared me to death, having heard all the stories about their catching garages and houses on fire. We were careful and never had a problem, but, as good as a fried turkey is, the fear of fire never went away.

We now have a new one. And I love it. The fear is gone. The fear is gone away. Butterball has just introduced its new electric turkey fryer (amazon.com, $149) and it’s worth every penny. The instructions state it’s for indoor use only. Never before would I have thought I could do that. I love this thing. While it won’t hold as large a turkey as my old fryer would — 12 pounds is recommended, though it will hold up to a 14-pound bird — it’s so easy to operate and clean-up is a breeze. It’s easy to store, too. Not as cumbersome as the old fryer. I keep it on a counter in my laundry room, so it’s handy for frying other foods, too. Such as chicken, wings, fish. You name it.

Get this fryer if you’re into frying turkeys. It’s a must.
