Police investigate the discovery of a body hanging from a tree this morning off 11th Street.

Chattanooga police are processing the scene at what appears to be a public suicide on E. 11th Street.

A pedestrian stumbled upon the lifeless body sometime before 8:45 a.m. this morning, said Lt. Tim Carroll, head of Chattanooga police major crimes division.

First indications suggest the party, whose identity is not yet known but who is thought to be male, hanged himself from a tree behind a building just east of the railroad tracks on the Chattanooga Community Kitchen property.

Lt. Carroll said the cause of death would be listed as undetermined until a preliminary autopsy report is made available.

For complete details, see tomorrow’s Chattanooga Times Free Press.

The correct word is HANGED not hung. Hung refers to inadament objects such as a tapestry or coat. Hanged is what you use when referring to people, i.e. a lynching. Don't you have to take writing classes of some sort when you get into journalism?

REALLY? Your response to this awful story is about grammar? Find something more useful to do with your time friend.

You guys are ridiculous. A man is dead and all you care about is a grammatical error.

I can not believe the types of comments this paper draws. You criticize grammar while a man is dead. Unbelievable.

I wonder if that person has left family behind. Maybe economic stress was the platform to suicide being the last and only feasible way to deal with hardship. This person displays that there is no one that cares (except to ridicule)and all that there is in this life is pain, suffering, and misery.

So hanging it shall be, and Heaven receives this person with open arms.

May God have mercy on your souls.
