Smokies hold off Lookouts, 8-6

KODAK, Tenn. -- A four-run ninth inning wasn't enough to keep the Chattanooga Lookouts from losing for the sixth time in seven games Saturday night, 8-6 to the host Tennessee Smokies, but the tying runs were on base.

Down 6-0, the Lookouts got a leadoff home run in the seventh inning from Tommy Giles and scored in the eighth with Jaime Pedroza hit by a pitch and three two-out walks. Then in the ninth, Trayvon Robinson followed one-out singles by Dee Gordon and Pedroza with a homer and Andrew Lambo tripled and scored on a Corey Smith groundout. Giles and pinch hitter Scott Van Slyke got two-out singles before the Smokies' Marcos Mateo struck out Jessie Mier for the save.

Tennessee's Robinson Chirinos ht a two-run homer in the sixth off John Koronka.

Game five of the five-game series at Kodak, Tenn., is today at 2. Jesus Castillo (0-1, 0.00) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Craig Muschko (0-0, 3.00) scheduled for the Smokies.

Chattanooga catcher Alex Garabedian was activated from the disabled list, where he began the season.
