Area event marks senior site additions

by Tamara Best

Live music and food are set to be a part of the celebration Sunday as The Village at Garden Plaza in Cleveland, Tenn., hosts a Village Block Party in celebration of its new patio residences.

“It’s like its own village tucked away in the country,” said Candice Natola, sales coordinator.

The development will add 28 dwellings that feature two bedrooms, fireplace, patio and yard.

“It’s good for senior adults who want to have fun and downsize. It’s a way for people to have that comfort of home and a community,” Ms. Natola said.

Garden Plaza is part of a growing number of what Ms. Natola calls a campus for active seniors.

“I believe that people want to live an active lifestyle in homes and be close to services should they need them, which offers peace of mind,” said Esmerelda Lee, campus manager.

The community features a putting green, movie nights, hair salon, creative cooking classes and a library.

The block party is taking place from 2 to 4 p.m.
