Petition to recall Littlefield being turned in

Organizers attempting to oust Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield announced today that they will be turning in the remaining signatures Wednesday required for a recall of the mayor.

If a required 9,000 or more signatures are verified by the Hamilton County Election Commission, a special mayoral election will coincide with the November general election.

Organizers are also "beginning our formal campaigns to oust City Council Chairman Manuel Rico and City Councilman Jack Benson," said Chris Brooks, a lead organizer in the group Chattanooga Organized for Action.

In response, Littlefield spokesman Richard Beeland said: "We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out. Just because they turn (the signatures) in doesn't mean they have the accurate number of signatures."
