Police corporal sues Red Bank for $1.5 million

For the fourth time in less than two months, Red Bank is facing a $1.5 million lawsuit.

The latest seven-figure complaint comes from Red Bank police Cpl. Rebecca Chauncey, an active player in the ongoing controversy surrounding the city's law enforcement wing.

The lawsuit alleges that Interim Police Chief Dan Knight retaliated against Chauncey for speaking out against "illegal" police work surrounding a DUI arrest.

Knight recently suspended Chauncey without pay for seven days after she violated a gun policy "that was never enforced before her," according to her attorney.
