Georgia tailback Ealey arrested on hit-and-run charges

Georgia sophomore tailback Washaun Ealey, who led the Bulldogs in rushing last season, was arrested early this morning on charges of hit-and-run of a parked vehicle and driving on a suspended license.

The 21-year-old was arrested by campus police at 5:22 a.m. and had not been released as of 9 a.m. Bond was set at a total of $3,000 — $1,500 on each charge.

Ealey rushed for 717 yards in nine games as a freshman and averaged 112 yards during the last four regular-season games. His best performance occurred at Georgia Tech, when he amassed 183 yards on 20 carries.

Running backs coach Bryan McClendon said after Thursday’s practice that redshirt junior Caleb King likely would get the start ahead of Ealey in next week’s opener against Louisiana-Lafayette.
