Scales names Sharpe assistant superintendent

Robert Sharpe, the director of middle schools for Hamilton County Schools, will be promoted to assistant superintendent of campus operations, administrators announced Friday.

"Robert has both middle and high school experience in a variety of schools around the county. He has been at Central Office and shown himself as a tremendous leader of our secondary schools," Superintendent Jim Scales said in a news release.

Sharpe also will serve as the high school director.

Reuben Justice will serve as interim middle schools director.

"Reuben is an experienced middle school principal who has served the district as a mentor for middle school principals for the last two years," Scales said. "He brings experience and knowledge to our team, and I know he will guide our middle schools through this transition."

Both appointments are effective Jan. 1, 2011.

Sharpe will succeed James Colbert, who is leaving to become superintendent of West Orange Cove Independent School District in Texas. Justice will fill in at Sharpe's position until the end of the year.
