Right after County Commissioner Larry Henry announced this afternoon that he is getting out of the race for county mayor, Register of Deeds Pam Hurst said she's interested in the job.
The County Commission office e-mailed a formal letter from Henry to local media at 3 p.m. Hurst announced her candidacy about 45 minutes later.
“At some point, the political realities and numbers clarify the likelihood of every candidate’s political success,” Henry said. “Therefore, after much consultation with my friends and trusted political advisors, the personal deliberations with my family and after much prayer and soucl searching, I have decided not to submit my name as a candidate for appointment as Mayor of Hamilton County.”
Fellow county Commissioner Jim Coppinger submitted his formal letter of intent yesterday.
