Frances Jones Basinger, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010.

Joanne Bishop
Joanne Deimlang Bishop, 70, of Chattanooga and formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at her home surrounded by family and friends.
Born Feb. 14, 1939 to the late George P. Deimling and Reva Deimling; also preceding her in death a son, William Charles and a sister, Rosemary, all of Cincinnati, Ohio.
She attended McNicholas High School.
Joanne was retired but most recently was an employee of Bilo and formerly at Olan Mills. She was an avid Titans and Notre Dame fan, and loved painting, working on her house and gardening. Joanne helped friends, neighbors and co-workers in need, her sense of humor and will be missed.
A loving partner and companion to Bill Saari; beloved mother to Jennifer Shipman and her partner Darlene Broadway; grandmother to Rachel, James and Sarah; Great-grandmother to Halanger; special friend and neighbor to Ligaya Raikes and Fred Lingerfelt. We are thankful she was in our life.
Survivors also include her brothers and sisters, Georgia, Donald, Jack, Reva, Madge and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, in the Highway 58 Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Father Charles officiating.
Burial will be in Cincinnati at a later date.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy Lasley Buckner, 82, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010.
Ms. Buckner was a 67-year Charter member of Mile Straight Baptist Church. She was always very faithful and dedicated to the service of the church. She was also a member of the Golden Agers and the Pioneer Bible Sunday School Class.
Her husband of 63 years, John Henry Buckner, preceded her in death.
She is survived by hers daughters, Sandra (Jacky) Parrott, Susan (Tim) Broome; grandchildren, Kimberly (Bill) Rock, Kerrie (Jason) Ingle; great-grandchildren, Macy Ingle, Matthew Rock and two brothers, Ernest Lasley and Alvin Lasley.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. today, Feb. 2, 2010, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. Albert C. Goss officiating.
Burial will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

William Jones
William Cephus "Jobie" Jones, of Signal Mountain, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at his home surrounded by family.
He was the son of the late William Bryan Jones and Mary Dyer Jones and was born in Morganfield, Ky. on Feb. 12, 1924.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in Europe during the Normandy Campaign. He retired from the US Army receiving numerous medals and letters of commendation. He served with the 101st and 82nd airborne divisions.
During his retirement years, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and walking and riding his four wheeler in the Horseshoe. He had a woodshop where he designed and built porch swings and chairs for family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Bryan Jones and John Wesley Jones; his sisters, Mary Sue Poole, Lillian Ruth Standefer, Myrna Ann Young and Maxine Francis.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Hall Jones; two daughters, Yonna Renee Jones and Melanie Jones (Greg) Lowery, of Signal Mountain; son, Jobie Lebron (Terri) Jones, of Ringgold, Ga.; Three grandchildren, Julia Cauline Jones, of Athens, Ga., Bryan Thomas Jones, of Signal Mountain and Madison Lynn Lowery, of Signal Mountain. He is also survived by his sister, Mozella Morgan and several nieces and nephews.
We would like to sincerely thank all of the physicians and their staff for our father's care through the years; Drs. Stanko,
Berglund, Fisher, Sprouse, Poole and Goodman. Our appreciation to Dr. Deanna Duncan and the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga for providing care and support during his final days.

Alvin L. Taylor, 79, of Chattanooga passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010. He has joined his loving wife in their eternal home with Christ Jesus their Lord and Savior.
He will be greatly missed by family, friends and neighbors. He will be remembered by all as a devout Christian and for his devotion to his family. Mr. Taylor was born on Aug. 7, 1930 to the late William H. and Artie Potts Taylor of Chattanooga. He was a graduate of City High School. He was a member of Morris Hill Baptist Church; a deacon and choir member of Avondale Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary E. Taylor.
He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Goodson and son, Robbie (Cheri) Taylor, both of Chattanooga; sisters, Edna (Harry) Plemons, Ringgold, Ga. and Virginia Hunt, Harrison; four grandchildren, Lewis Davis, Cheryl Davis, Ryan Taylor and Sydney Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Ariel Davis, Jordan Davis and Jacob Davis.

Wallace Brown
JASPER -- Charles Wallace Brown, 85, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, in a Chattanooga hospital.
A lifelong resident of Jasper, Mr. Brown was born to the late I.B. and Ada Derrick Brown.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
Mr. Brown and his wife owned various businesses in Jasper before opening the White Store in 1968. He was very active in community affairs, holding several public offices including the Marion County Circuit Court Clerk from 1950-1958. From 1961-1962 Mr. Brown served as a State Senator in the 82nd General Assembly, representing Marion, Franklin, Grundy, and Warren counties. In the first year that the Town of Jasper was incorporated Mr. Brown was elected as a city alderman, helping to establish its current city government. Later he held a commission of Colonel on the staff of Governor Frank Clement and served as county campaign manager for two previous governors. Mr. Brown served for many years as a member of the Board of Directors for Marion Trust and Banking.
Mr. Brown was a lifelong member of McKendree United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Lewis, Pete, and Newman Brown; sisters, Mary Nell Brown and Buhl. B. Heiskell.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Nell Sherrill Brown; children, Wallace S. "Wally" (Sharon) Brown of Jasper and June (Steve) Centimole of Monteagle; brother, Thomas Brown; sister, Mildred P. Pruitt; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Chip) Wilson and Susan Brown.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. CDT Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ron Ramsey officiating.

Rev. Charles Ross
WHITWELL -- Rev. Charles O."Cotton" Ross, 85, of the Griffiths Creek Community, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010.
He was the Pastor at Laager Congregational Methodist Church for close to 50 years and had pastored churches since 1951. He performed numerous weddings, funerals and was always there for anyone who had a need. He was instrumental in establishing the Church in Bryants Cove and the Laager Methodist Youth Camp on Palmer Mountain in which he took great pride.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Ross (who was a deacon at Laager Methodist) and Winnie Davis Ross; brothers, Benny and James; sisters, Evelyn Ross, Gladys Tate and Velma Coppinger.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue DeLong Ross; sons, Billy C. (Gail) and Anthony W. SPRING CITY -- Johnny Ray Tollett Sr., 63, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at Rhea Medical Center.
Born in Cumberland County to the late Tom West and Ollie Mae Sherrill Tollett, Johnny moved back to the Rhea County community in 1996 from Florida. He was self-employed working in construction industry as a roofer until he became disabled. Johnny attended Victory Baptist Church in Spring City.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Tollett; and brothers, Ralph and Robert Tollett.
Survivors include his son Johnny Ray Tollett Jr., of Chicago, Ill.; sisters, Dorothy Miller, of Grandview, Della Jean Brewer, of Spring City, Jane Denton and Lounell Ballard, both of Dayton; and brother, Tommy Tollett, of Corbin, Ky.

Sarah Baggett
TRION -- Sarah Kathleen Baggett, 91, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at Hutcheson Medical Center.
Mrs. Baggett was born July 8, 1918 in Cherokee County, Ala., the daughter of the late Dayton and Ovie McRae Henderson. She was a lifelong resident of the Mountain View Community.
Mrs. Baggett was a charter and lifelong member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Allan Baggett; grandchildren, Kym Masters, Kerry Ray, Sherry Jordan and Brian Baggett; sisters, Claudia Brown and Ruth Brannon; sister-in-law, Evelyn Lemming.

LaFAYETTE -- Helen Jewel Lancaster Bandy, 82, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cheel and Gladys Lancaster; husband, Almege Bandy; daughter, Diane Bandy; sons, Jody Bandy and Dennis Bandy.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church of LaFayette, a secretary for Golden Circle Class for many years, and a member of The Young at Heart.
Survived by a sister, Betty Crisp Kirby, of Greenville, S.C. with whom she lived with the last two years; brother, Billy Ray Lancaster, LaFayette; two grandsons, Jeff and Jeremy Bandy; two great-grandchildren, DJ and Nicholas Bandy, all LaFayette; a special nephew and niece, Jim and Gayle Kennard, Ringgold; daughter-in-law, Deanne Bandy; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

DALTON -- Margaret Keeton Goodson, 81, passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at Hamilton Medical Center following a stroke.
She is the daughter of the late Thomas Thurston and Edna Rhinehart Keeton; and sister of the late Mary Ann Autry and Clifford E. Keeton.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Joe D. Goodson, of Dalton; daughters and spouses, Don and Brenda Hoffmeyer, Margaret Anne and Wesley Graves, Paula Goodson Keener, all of Dalton; and son, Brad and Amy Goodson, of Alpharetta, Ga.; grandchildren, Wesley Graves Jr., Nicholas Graves, Hudson Keener, Hunter Keener, all of Dalton, Brooke and Claire Goodson, of Alpharetta, Ga., Joseph Hoffmeyer, of Rock Hill, S.C. and Christi Hoffmeyer, of Arlington, Va.; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Matthew Graves, of Dalton; brother, Charles G. Keeton, of Culloden, Ga.; niece, Leanne and Bill Hale, of Signal Mountain; and great-nephews, William and Michael Hale, of Chattanooga.
Margaret graduated from The Baroness Erlanger School of Nursing in 1950. Upon graduation, she worked at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. She returned to her hometown of Chickamauga, Ga., and married her childhood friend and classmate, Joe Goodson. She and her family moved to Dalton in 1963 and were active members of the Dalton community. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church, she served as a teacher, circle leader, food pantry chairman, youth leader, and scout leader. She served many years as den mother for the Friendship House Boy Scout troop and in 1973 was awarded the Silver Fawn for Distinguished Service to Boyhood by the Northwest Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Her love was her family and her passion was service to youth. She volunteered as a school nurse, was active in the PTA, Catamount Band Club, co-chairing their annual fund raising event, the "Straw Hat Follies", and was part of the first group of volunteers at the GreenHouse, a center for sexually abused children.
Services will be today Feb. 2, 2010 at 1 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Dalton with the Rev. Mickey Shealy officiating.
Her grandsons and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers. "The Lunch Bunch" and their spouses will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
