Chattanooga: Haslam spending $110,000 in local TV ads

Republican gubernatorial hopefull Bill Haslam is marching onto GOP rival Zach Wamp’s hometown turf with broadcast TV ads totaling $109,484.75, public filings at the four network affiliates show.

The 60-second spots start airing Feb. 12, the same day the Winter Olympic games begin, and continue through Feb. 28, records show.

The largest buy, according to public files, is $68,065 with NBC affiliate WRCB-TV Channel 3. NBC has the television rights to broadcast the winter Olympics.

Ads have also been purchased to appear on ABC affiliate WTVC-TV Channel 9 ($27,885) as well as CBS affiliate WDEF-TV Channel 12 ($6,859.50) and Fox affiliate WDSI-TV Channel 61 ($6,685.25), filings show.

U.S. Rep. Wamp, R-Tenn., said he was untroubled by the Haslam ads.

“I guess I am flattered that the Haslams would feel the need to spend the largest share of their campaign money in my home market,” the Chattanooga congressman said in a news release.
