DALTON, Ga.

Margaret Mitchell lecture planned

Dr. Jennifer Dickey, an assistant professor of public history at Kennesaw State University, will deliver a lecture titled "Margaret Mitchell: A Woman Who Danced on the Edge of Her Culture" on Thursdayat Dalton State College.

The lecture, which is free to the public, is part of the Dicksie Bradley Bandy Memorial Lecture Series. It will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Room 105 of the James E. Brown Center at Dalton State. A reception will follow.

CLEVELAND, Tenn.

Drop by for brunch at museum center

The Museum Center at Five Points will host a Sunday brunch on Feb. 28 that includes a talk and a tour.

The brunch buffet, catered by Oliver's, will have baked ham, chicken and roast beef as well as a full selection of breakfast items, salad and dessert. There will be live piano music to accompany the buffet in the Cultural Center.

Dr. Joel Huffstetler of St. Luke's Episcopal Church will speak at 1 p.m. about his latest book, "Gratitude and Grace," which is about British spiritual writer Michael Mayne. Then museum staff will conduct a tour of the Stitches in Time quilt exhibit.

Tickets are $19 and include museum admission. Reservations and pre-payment are required by Feb. 24.

'Erasing Color Line' at Berry Museum

Oak Hill and the Martha Berry Museum present "Erasing the Color Line," an exhibition detailing the story of integration at Berry College, throughout February.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 seniors, $3 students/children, free to ages 6 & under.

Artists, a poetry contest and cowboy church will highlight the this year's Southeastern Cowboy Gathering from March 11 to 14 at the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, Ga.

The event will include the Georgia Youth Poetry Contest finals, children's activities; banjo, mandolin, guitar and fiddle contests; chuck wagon and Dutch oven cooking contests, poetry writing workshops, cowboy church and much more.
