2 charged in DeKalb burglaries

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — Two men have been arrested and charged with a string of burglaries, DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in a news release Tuesday.

Sheriff Harris said Cory Lee Goins, 31, and Dustin Dewayne Williams, 20, both of Collinsville, Ala., are charged with 17 felony counts including burglary, theft, breaking into a vehicle and altering firearms.

The release said burglars broke into Little River Outfitters on U.S. Highway 11 in October. In in late January or early February, the business was hit twice more along with two homes and Gravel Hill Baptist Church. Investigators found the break-ins all took place within a quarter-mile radius. The thieves took guns, knives, ammunition, books, jewelry, hats, electronic equipment and several other items.

Investigators recovered about 90 percent of the stolen items with the arrest, the release stated.
