Lab furniture plant closing

ALC-Collegedale, a designer and maker of science and laboratory furniture, plans to shut down its Mountain View Road operation and phase out 45 local jobs, officials said Monday.

Chip Albright, the company's president, cited market conditions in transfer of operations to its Round Rock, Texas, location. He expected the local facility will close before October.

There are 34 workers in the factory and 11 in the office. Employees will be given the opportunity to transfer to the Texas operation, according to the company.
