Geneva F. Bouchard, 94, a 25-year resident of Signal Mountain, passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at Alexian Village.
She was an active member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raoul Bouchard; parents, Robert and Flossie Floyd; sisters, Delila Sanderson and Esther Mims; brothers, Paul, Jennings and George Robert Floyd.
Survivors include her son, Paul J. Bouchard, of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Jonathan, Adam, Whitney and Scott; sister, Sarah Floyd, of Florence, S.C.; nieces, Patricia and Janice.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church with Dr. Bill Dudley officiating.

Jimmie Lee Foster departed this life at North Fulton Hospital, in Roswell, Ga., on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010.
Jimmie was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. W.J Foster; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Haskell Cunningham; and son, George Satterwhite Jr. She was a 1938 graduate of Howard High School and longtime member of Greater Park City Baptist Church in Rossville.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Mary Alice Reed; son, Edgar Joe Reed; stepson, Robert North; grandchildren, Terry A. Reed, Tiffany Reed, Samuel Reed and Paul Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Richard L. Reed, Paul Montgomery Jr., Malik Montgomery, Mikaelsha Montgomery. Loving family in Winchester, Tenn.; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Greater Park City Baptist Church with the Rev. Hewlett officiating.
Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Sybil Harmon
Sybil Beggs Harmon, 83, of Hixson, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010.
She was born in Gadsden, Ala., on Oct. 24, 1926, to the late Gaston R. and Naomi Roebuck Beggs. Sybil came to Chattanooga in 1952, when she married Wayne Hoskins and was a former employee with American National Bank. In 1972 she married Gene Harmon and worked with him at Riverview Pharmacy until her retirement in 1994. Sybil was a member of Berean Baptist Church.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by both her husbands, a brother, Harold Beggs; and a sister, Wilma Myrick.
She is survived by her two daughters, Janet and Joan Hoskins; stepdaughters, Janie Basham and Geney Watson; stepsons, Gary and Burke Harmon; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Cecil Beggs; a sister, Lucille McCormick; brothers-in-law, Thomas Harmon and Ed Hoskins; sisters-in-law, Louise Harmon and Annette Hall; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Steven Dowlen, Dr. Michael Stipanov, Dr. Brain Kalla and Dr. John Gwin for their years of compassionate care. Also the staff of Memorial Hospital 5th floor, Life Care Center of Red Bank and Kindred Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today and noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the North Chapel.

Dorothy M. Maddux, 101, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010.
Dorothy was born on Aug. 16, 1908 in Dayton, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Ross R. Maddux; and her infant son, Conard Ross Maddux.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte M. Frost; son-in-law, Jack L. Frost; grandson, Steven L. Frost (Lisa); granddaughter, Susan F. Bishop (Mike); great-granddaughter, Amy F. Haddock (John); great-grandsons, Jonathan D. Frost (Lindsey), David M. Bishop, William J. Bishop, Benjamin R. Bishop; great-great-grandchildren, Charlotte Ann Haddock, Eli Haddock, Laney Frost and Sally Frost.
Dorothy was the oldest living member of White Oak Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years. She was a faithful member serving her church and community until her declining health prevented her from doing so.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at White Oak Baptist Church with Dr. John Franklin and Dr. Tony Wilson officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from noon until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Michael Usher Sr.
Michael Wayne Usher Sr., 55, passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, in a local hospital.
He was a graduate of Brainerd High School, class of 1972, and Chattanooga State. He was a member of Thankful Baptist Church and served as private in the U.S. Army. He was formerly employed with 1st Tennessee Bank, TVA, and the local Post Office. He was a dedicated employee of Memorial Hospital as a clinical engineer until the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by mother, Betty Jean Usher.
He leaves to cherish his memory loving wife, Bernice F. Usher; sons, Michael Usher II, Martrell (Nakita) Usher, and Marcus Hayes; daughter, Lakeydra Usher Teague; 10 loving grandchildren, all of Chattanooga; father, William Usher Sr.; sisters, Lillian (Edward) U. Jones, Karen (Donnie) U. Phillips; brother, William Usher; two stepsisters, Theresa (Roscoe) Tucker, Toni (Reginald) White, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Billy Bob Dannel
SPRING CITY — Billy Bob Dannel, 71, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Rhea Medical Center.
Born in Grandview, Tenn., he was the son of the late Jesse Floyd and Elizabeth Kemmer Dannel. Billy Bob was a graduate of Spring City High School, Class of 1956 and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a self-employed farmer and had worked for several years at SSM Industries as well as TVA. Billy Bob was a member of the Farm Bureau and N.R.A. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Billy Bob was of the Baptist faith.
Billy Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Mathis Dannel; and sisters, Jo Lee Cadle and Mary Sue McDade.
Survivors include his sons, Eddie Bob (Lorie) Dannel and Teddy M. Dannel, both of Grandview; grandchildren, Willie, Justin, Taylor and Blake Dannel and Bethaney James; and great-grandchildren, Kane, Kendall, Keely and Riley Dannel.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Sulphur Cemetery with the Rev. Hyle Waldo officiating.

ETOWAH — Gary Ray Ellis, 65, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at UT Medical Center in Knoxville.
A native of Bradley County and resident of McMinn County for the past 18 years, he was a son of the late Asbury Lawerance and Emaline Fannie Hicks Ellis.
He worked at W.H. Camp Co. in Chattanooga as general manager for 26 years, and retired from there. He then founded Ray Hal Co. in Etowah where he recently retired. He enjoyed farming, collecting cars, spending time with the Amish, and most of all, his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Ellis, of Etowah; one son, Phillip Ellis, of Cleveland; one stepson and spouse, Scott and Joy Buckner, of Etowah; one stepdaughter and spouse, Teresa and Vince Williams, of Etowah; two grandchildren, Harley and Ryder Williams, of Etowah; two sisters, Edith Bullard and Rene Cardin, both of Cleveland; and four brothers, Tom, Frank and Albert Ellis, all of Cleveland, and Alvin Ellis, of Etowah.
Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. today, Feb. 9, 2010, in the South Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Best officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today prior to the service.

JASPER — Charles Donald Hoback, loving husband, beloved father, grandfather and cherished great-grandfather, passed away at his home Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, after a long and brave battle.
He was born Nov. 8, 1915 and was the son of the late Earl Hoback and Elizabeth Tate Hoback. He was employed for 25 years at the TNT Plant in Cleveland. During this time he also owned a trucking business.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Ruth Hoback; daughter Myrna Wright and son-in-law, Bob Wright, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; son, David Hoback and daughter-in-law, Wilma Hoback, of Jasper; grandchildren, include Paul and wife, Dana Hoback, Kelley and husband, Kenny Ammon, Cynthia and husband, Mike, Powers; great-grandchildren, Ben Ammon, Payton and Presley Powers, Grayson, Nicholas and Nathan Hoback.

CLEVELAND — Phillip Lee Ownbey, 80, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen McArthur and Robert L. Ownbey.
He was a World War II veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cleveland. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 42 years of service.

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN — Daren Richard Blevins, 44, passed away at his home on Lookout Mountain, Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wiley and Elvie Blevins, of Lookout Mountain, Ga. and Richard and Hazel Donahue, of Trenton, N.J.
Daren was a true Southern Rebel Redneck living life the way he wanted. He never met a stranger that didn’t soon become his friend and he was always helping people out in one way or another. He was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back and his last dime if you asked, Never expecting anything in return.
He is survived by his parents, Leldon and Valerie Blevins of Lookout Mountain; sister, Karen and Jay White of Bryant, Ala.; and brother, Mike and Renee Blevins, of Lookout Mountain; nephew, Jake White, of Bryant, Ala.; nieces, Brianna and Brittany Blevins of Lookout Mountain; our adopted brother, David “Coop” Cooper, of Trenton, Ga.; and his beloved dog Harley.
Our family would like to thank all of the many many people that was there with love, food and comfort. In the end Daren died with his family surrounding him and knowing the peace of God. We will miss you very very much, but we are content to know that you are no longer suffering. Until we meet again Daren, Rest in God’s Love.

LaFAYETTE — Sara Elizabeth Crawford, 74, passed away in Hampton, Va., on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010.
A resident of LaFayette, she had been living in Hampton with her daughter since November.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther F. and Velma Morrison; brothers, Kenneth, Glen “Buck”, Donald, and Sonny Morrison; and sister, Rebecca Jean Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Makalla D. Routten and her husband, Michael, of Hampton; brother, Alvin Morrison, of Erin, Tenn.; grandchildren, Michael Clay Routten and Kaitlyn M. Routten, both of Hampton; and special niece and nephew, Kellie Maples and Michael Smith.

CALHOUN — Dixie Wright Hobgood, 91, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 at her residence.
Dixie was born Feb. 8, 1918 in Fulton County, daughter of the late Robert L. Wright and Ruth Nance Wright. Also, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M. Hobgood, Sept. 26, 1991; and two brothers, Robert and Jack Wright. She lived most of her life in Gordon County; had served as an officer in the family business, C. and H. Bedspread Co.. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Dixie is survived by her son, Frank Hobgood Jr. and his wife, Ida of Anderson, S.C.; one daughter, Jill Smith and her husband, Jerry, of Calhoun; one sister, Betty Wright Cahoon and her husband, Winn, of Smyrna; six grandchildren, Kahle Smith and his wife, Aiko, F.M. “Chip” Hobgood III, Stacie Jacobs, Kristin Spoon, Ashley Sharp, Holly Brickman; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 9, at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Minister Jule Medders and Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Bjorn Spoon and India Galyean will have charge of music.

ROSSVILLE — Sibyl Mae Jackson, 92, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010. She was born to Earl and Myrtie Todd on June 25, 1917.
She had been one of God’s children for 66 years. Mrs. Sibyl cherished her family and many friends, working in her flower garden, and reading her tattered bible. She was an active member of Shields Baptist Church in Chickamauga.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 48 years, J.R. Jackson; son, Guy D. Jackson; two grandsons; one granddaughter; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Charlotte Jackson, of Rising Fawn, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Marion Stanley, of Townsend, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

RINGGOLD — Paul Edward Overcast passed away on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010.
Born in northwest Tennessee, he was a lifelong supporter of all things “orange.” He served in the U.S. Navy and later graduated from the College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and the University of Houston with an advanced degree in Industrial Engineering.
Mr. Overcast was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Christine Love Overcast.
Survivors are his two daughters, Jane (William) Salter, Wellington, Fla., Nancy (Ivan) Yanasak, Alpharetta, Ga.; and his dearest granddaughter, Nadia Karoline Yanasak.

ROSSVILLE — Joyce R. Malone Scoggins, 79, of Cumberland, Ind., passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010.
She was born April 23, 1930 in Rossville to the late Paul L. and Ella Mae Barnett Malone.
Joyce graduated from Rossville High School in 1947. In the 1960s she was involved with community theater in Greensboro, N.C., starring in the play “The Women”. She married Jack M. Scoggins, and was employed with RCA for 12 years. She was a member of the Cumberland Town Board for four years, Franklin Road Church of Christ, the Greenfield Community Choir. While living in Richmond, Va., she worked for the Baptist Foreign Missions Board. She was an extensive traveler, and her husband, children, and grandchildren, were the joy of her life.
Joyce is survived by her loving daughters, Suzanne E. McCarty (David), and Libby L. Belcher (James); grandchildren, Lauren and Sean McCarty, Nicholas J. and Thomas R. Belcher.
Her loving husband, Jack M. Scoggins, and brother, Garnett Malone, preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation Indiana Chapter and/or the American Lung Association.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

Dr. Homer Smith
ROSSVILLE — Dr. Homer Smith, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010.
A native of Bristol, Tenn., he had been a longtime resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas where he had pastored and founded several Baptist churches including Immanuel Baptist, North Georgia Baptist Tabernacle, and Tri-County Baptist Temple.
Dr. Smith was founder and executive director of Word for the World Baptist Ministries which serves over 55 missionary families in over 23 countries around the world. He had preached in over 40 different countries throughout his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving over 20 years serving in World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors are wife, Elena Sera Smith; daughter, Cyndie (Rudy) Stembridge, Rossville, Marianne (Ron) Mucci, Flat Rock, Mich., Susan (Ted) Miller, Cleveland, Tenn., Megan (Billy) Levise, South Lyon, Mich.; son, Greg Smith, Hawaii; sister, Betty Gail Anderson, Bristol; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one nephew.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Church, Chickamauga, Ga., with Pastor Chris Staub, Pastor Mike Keenan, Pastor Mike Collingwood, Pastor Charlie Andrews, Pastor Rick Ball and Rudy Stembridge officiating.
Entombment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with full military honors.

ROSSVILLE — Syble Earwood Stansell Tapp, 84, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Otis Stansell; and second husband, Bill Tapp; sister, Mae Kelley.
Survived by a niece and her husband, Billie and James Precise, of Rossville; caregivers Kelly Hinkle and Deborah Morton.
