The lunches will be ready to eat in or carry out from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Advance orders can be phoned in today between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for the following three options.

* Meal 1: Large Greek salad with pita bread and almond cake ($8).

* Meal 2: Gyro sandwich with small Greek salad and almond cake ($8).

* Meal 3: Large Greek salad with gyro meat, pita bread and almond cake ($9).

Money raised will be donated by the Ladies Philoptochos Society to organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House, Times Free Press Neediest Cases, Chattanooga Room in the Inn and the Chattanooga Community Kitchen.

Don't have time for lunch? Stop by and pick up a couple of meals for dinner. Either way, you'll be having a wonderful meal while supporting a very worthwhile organization. To place an order, call 629-2364.

Serendipity Delights, 3510 Dayton Blvd., will now be open for early dinners two nights a week. Until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, diners can enjoy two new entrees in addition to the regular menu.

"This will give those who work an opportunity to come by for carry-out or to dine-in," said owner Judy Smith.

I love this little cafe. It's charming and offers some really good food. I'll be planning to stop by for dinner to go. If you choose to eat in, there will be an early-bird special offering 10 percent off your meal between 4 and 6 p.m.

The new hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. To call ahead for takeout orders, the phone number is 875-3477.

With spring just 38 days away, we've got a lot of things to look forward to, including spring cleaning. Yes, I really do look forward to it because it forces me to go through my cabinets and throw away or give away things I haven't used in years. It's something I've put off doing for the past five years. I can't wait to see what will reappear. What are some of the oldest kitchen items you still have? Let me know by e-mail at abraly@timesfreepress.com. Attach a photo if you can.

I got this cake recipe from the wife of a co-worker, and it was so good and simple, I want to pass it on. It took me just minutes to make. Though it calls for 6 ounces of chocolate chips, I used about 10 ounces from a 12-ounce bag.

Chocolate Chip Cake

1 box yellow cake mix

1 small package instant chocolate pudding

4 eggs

1 cup oil

8 ounces sour cream

6 ounces chocolate chips (can add extra chips)

Blend together ingredients. Bake at 350 F for 45 to 50 minutes in a greased Bundt or tube pan.
