CHICKAMAUGA: 4-H team cleans up

On Feb. 6, 60 Walker County students competed at the Northwest Georgia 4-H District Project Achievement competition held at Georgia Highlands College in Rome, Ga.

Walker County 4-H had a great day with 13 first-place, 14 second- place and nine third-place wins. Walker County was well represented with 36 out of 60 placing first, second, or third.

The students were: Kaylan Beaty, fifth grade - 1st place Poultry & Egg Science; Sidney Pierce, fifth grade - 2nd place Safety; Mary Kate Pritchett, fifth grade - 1st place General Science; Evan Clayton, fifth grade - 1st place Outdoor Recreation; Dalton Green, fifth grade - 1st place History; Grace Sims, fifth grade - second place Crafts; Grant Blaylock, fifth grade - second place Rabbits; and Julianna Putnam, sixth grade - first place Entomology.

4-H'ers from Dade, Coweta, Catoosa, Whitfield, Walker, Murray, Gordon, Chattooga, Floyd, Bartow, and Polk counties attended the contest.
