East Tennessee Marines return home from Iraq

GRAY, Tenn. — More than 100 Marines returned home earlier than expected to East Tennessee after a deployment to Iraq.

Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines deployed to Iraq in September and provided convoy and base security at the Al Asad Airfield in western Al Anbar province.

The Bristol Herald Courier reported that the Johnson City-based reserve unit was supposed to do a seven-month tour, but returned Friday to many happy friends and family.
