Brenda Bryant-Flint

Brenda Bryant Flint lost her battle with brain cancer Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010.

A 40-year resident of Chattanooga, Brenda was born in LaFayette, Ga., on Aug. 13, 1947, and was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and wife.

Along with her husband, Brenda owned and operated AAAA Insurance Centers of Tennessee and Georgia. She truly loved life and was the epitome of an optimist. She touched the hearts and lives of everyone who knew her. She dearly loved her family and friends, providing steadfast love and support.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred J. Flint; father, Julius M. Bryant; and nephew, James W. Bryant.

Brenda is survived by her daughter, Terri Chatfield-Doneff and her husband, Mike, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; step-daughters, Lisa Flint and Beth Gaffney and husband, Kevin; stepson, Fred B. Flint, and wife, Lisa; grandsons, Matthew Chatfield, Brendan Gaffney and Jack Flint; granddaughters, Ellie Gaffney, Hollis Gaffney and Anna Flint; Brenda's mother, Myretth Montjoy; brothers and sisters, Donnie Bryant and his wife, Judy, Sharon Bryant Yaziciyan and her husband, Oskie, Beverly Bryant Arrington and her husband, Ron, Judy Ann Bryant and Larry Bryant and his wife, Luda; nieces and nephews, Steve Edwards, Susan Edwards, Steven Bryant, Patience Lanford, Stacey Ferris, Sterling Ferris, Robert Clark, Rachel Clark, Sam Clark and Philip Arrington; and countless extended family, friends and colleagues from South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and West Virginia.

The family will receive friends to celebrate Brenda's life Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Wallis-Willbanks Funeral Home, 121 W. Villanow St., Lafayette, GA 30728.

Dorothy Talley Cobleigh, 90, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, prior to the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

J.D. Cooke

J.D. Cooke Sr. 69, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at a local hospital.

He was a member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren dearly, also woodworking and gardening. He was employed by Astec for 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Neoma Cooke, and brothers, Leonard and Clarence Cooke.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Freida Cooke; sons, J.D. (Angela) Cooke Jr., David (Tonya) Cooke, Paul (Vanassa) Cooke, Danny (Becky) Cooke; sisters, Violet Ritchie and Rebecca Reed; and grandchildren, Meagan, Matalie, Austin, Justin, Hannah, Jonathon, Katelyn, Erika and Dylan Cooke.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Don Kelley and the Rev. John Weaver officiating.

Interment will follow the service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Dorothy Cox

Dorothy Virginia Brown Cox, 82, formerly of Chattanooga, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at her home in Lake Alfred, Fla.

She was born in Hamilton County on Oct. 27, 1927, to the late Earl and Gladys Brown. She attended Pineville and Mountain Creek Elementary Schools and graduated from Red Bank High School. She worked in several dress shops in Chattanooga before marrying Howard Cox and starting her family of two sons. She lived in several states and later married Claude Mowery.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy also was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Cox and Claude Mowery; son, Lloyd Cox; sisters, Elizabeth Brown and Peggy Sue Graham; and brother, Brooks Wesley Brown.

Survivors include her son, Richard Cox and his companion Karen Wynn, of Lake Alfred, Fla.; stepson, Claude Allen Mowery, of Cleveland, Tenn.; three brothers, Earl, Ronnie and Terry Brown, of Chattanooga; two grandchildren, Rick Cox, of Auburndale, Fla., and Loralynn (Tom) Gonzalez, of Deltona, Fla.; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Lane Funeral Home with the Rev. Leroy Webb officiating.

Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Darlene Lila Everett, 55, of East Ridge, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2010.

She was a deputy clerk for Judge Gwen Tidwell.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Darwin Davis, and father, Charles P. Phillips.

Susie M. Harris, 102, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday Feb. 19, 2010.

She was a member of Greater Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church.

Nancy Hausler

Nancy Jane Weber Hausler, 84, of Signal Mountain, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010.

She was born March 10, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo., and was a 1946 graduate of the University of Illinois where she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority.

Her interests included gardening, golf, all animals, especially dogs, reading, traveling and art. She will be remembered for her green thumb, keen intellect and sharp wit.

Survivors include her three sons, Joel (Gina ) Hausler, of Beech Grove, Tenn., Paul (Kelley) Hausler, of Chattanooga, and Andrew (Sandy) Hausler, of Signal Mountain; and five grandchildren, Sam, Sarah, Claire, Haydn and Max Hausler. She also leaves behind Buzz, her beloved Jack Russell.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Private burial will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery where she will join her husband of 64 years, Ernest Martin Hausler Jr., one year and one day after his death.

Thaddeus Hudson, 77, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, in a local hospital.

Eddie Lee Jones, 61, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, in Atlanta.

Virgil Kelsay Jr.

Virgil Ervin Kelsay Jr., 79, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, in a local hospital.

Virgil was born in Hamilton County, Tenn., on Jan. 3, 1931, to the late Mr. And Mrs. Virgil E. Kelsay Sr.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Michael Ervin and Mark Alan Kelsay.

Mr. Kelsay graduated from Central High School in 1949 as a star lineman for the "Purple Pounders" football team. He was a master plumber and owner/president of Kelsay Plumbing Co. from 1959 to 1993. He was a member and former deacon of East Brainerd Baptist Church and past president of Siskin Child Studies Center. He was an avid supporter and season ticket holder of UTC football and basketball teams and Orange Grove Center. He was also a cub master and assistant scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 69.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Wilma Ernestine Kelsay; children, Betsy Headrick, of Chattanooga, Alice (Jay) Harmon, of Spring Branch, Texas, Andrew (Kay) Kelsay, of Chattanooga, Susan (Mark) Roberson, of Ringgold, Ga., and Linda (David E.) Cate, of Ringgold; 12 grandchildren, Jonathan (Anetka) Headrick, Aaron (Paige) Harmon, Kristin Kelsay, Bryan Harmon, Jessica Headrick, McKenzie Kelsay, Tarrian Dalzell, Brett Roberson, Tiffany Dalzell, Kelsay Cate, Joan Cate and Rhiannon Kelsay; and two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Riley Headrick.

Georgia June Lee, 64, passed Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, in Torrance, Calif.

She was born in San Francisco Aug. 28, 1945, to George and June Bernice Vargas. Georgia and Frank Lee married Nov. 23, 1963, in Ringgold, Ga., and moved to Torrance in 1979.

Georgia is survived by her daughters, Carla Gilhuys and Angela Winfrey; her son Karl Matthew Lee; grandsons, Kyle Arthur Gilhuys, Dylan Charles Lee, Reginald Allen Winfrey and Jayden Amon Winfrey; and granddaughter, Devin June Johnston.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Ooltewah Church of God, 9310 Lee Highway, Ooltewah, TN 37363, with the Rev. Bob Crick officiating.

Interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, 4016 Tennessee Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37409.

Lois Roddy

GRAYSVILLE -- Lois Ann Roddy died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Life Care Center of Rhea County.

Lois was a member of Wayside Baptist Church and was a school bus driver for several years. She worked 10 years at Wal-Mart and was the manager at Goodwill before her retirement.

She was preceded by her husband, Leland B. "Fuzz" Roddy; parents, Roy N. and Ova Elsea; brother, David L. Elsea; and stepmother, Emma Elsea.

Survivors include her three sons, Barry Roddy, Graysville, Tenn., Dwayne (Amy) Roddy, Dayton, Tenn., and Curtis (Karen) Roddy, Sale Creek, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Tiffany (Roddy) Akin, Brooke (Roddy) Hufstetler and Vince Roddy; three great-grandchildren, Chole and Kyler Akin and Brenlee Hufstetler; four sisters, Sue Levi and Freda Woods, both of Dayton, Selba Jean Beaty and Ellen Miller, of Evensville; and brother, Edward Elsea, of Bakewell, Tenn. Lois also leaves behind her beloved friend, Frances "Franny" Carter.

Services will be Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Fitzgeral and the Rev. Bill Hall officiating.

Interment will be at Pleasantview Cemetery.

Bill Bailey

FLINTSTONE -- Bill Bailey, 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010.

He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and a member of Wallaceville Baptist Church, serving as the choir director for 26 years. Bill served his country during World War II in the United States Army before retiring from the Army National Guard after 28 years.

He served as a Walker County Deputy under Sheriff Ralph Jones. He was a member of the Walker County Fire Department for 35 years, and employed at Chattanooga Valley Middle School for 20 years. Bill also retired from Teamsters Local 515 30 years of service as a truck driver.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ophillia Bailey; son, Ernest Bailey; and 11 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Anna Bailey; sons, Daryl, Mike, Dennis and Daniel Bailey; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Land; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, in the funeral home chapel with Brother Michael Smith and Brother Sam Barrett officiating.

Interment will follow at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends after noon today and prior to the service Thursday.

CHICKAMAUGA -- Jessie Lucille Turner Carreathers, 59, passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010.

She was employed many years at Synthetics Industries and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by husband, Benny Carreathers, and Claudia Rochelle Turner, James Bryant Sr., Janie Mae Melin, Rosa Lee Lewis and James Bryant Jr.

Survivors are children, LaTona (Walter) Clayton, James (Amanda) Turner Jr., Shannon (Barry) Martin and Bryan (Erica) Turner; longtime friend and ex-husband, James Ronnie Turner Sr.; mother, Annie Bryant; sisters, Mary Ellen Treadway, Isabelle (William) Davis and Jeanette (James) Caldwell; brother, Lawrence Bryant; 11 grandchildren; devoted grandson and caregiver, Stephon Turner; and three great-grandchildren, Lillie Mae Stewart, Henry Avery and Ava Hardin.

Service will be Friday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Chickamauga.

TRION -- George Robert Ellis Sr., 56, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010.

James Hilt

ROSSVILLE -- James Richard Hilt, 66, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010.

He was born in York, Pa., to the late Elwood and Lucy Hilt and had lived in the Southeastern part of Pennsylvania for most of his life before moving to the North Georgia area about five years ago. He was a Navy Veteran having served during Vietnam, he was also of the Baptist faith and had worked as a Restaurant Manager for more than 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Hilt, of Rossville; son, Michael Steven Hilt, of Metter, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne Marie (Ken) Tyson, of Acworth, Ga., and Linda Ann (Robert) Begley, of Rossville; four brothers, Ralph Hilt, of Baltimore, Earl, Clifford and Tommy Hilt, all of Florida; four grandchildren, James and Amanda Begley and Randy and Patrick Tyson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel.

Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

ROSSVILLE -- Thomas Russell Scarbrough, 78, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, in a local hospital.

He was a longtime resident of North Georgia and was retired from Mueller Co. After retiring he enjoyed gardening.

Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Edna Scarbrough; sons, Alan (Freida) Scarbrough, Huntsville, Ala., and Brian Scarbrough, Rossville; daughters, Janet (Mark) Watson, Rock Spring, and Karen Curtis, Rossville; sister, Josephine Lingerfelt; grandchildren, Jacob, Mary Katherine, Andrew and Elizabeth Scarbrough, Jorden, Danielle Watson and Brandon Curtis; and one great-grandchild, Gabriel Curtis.

Rev. Robert Woods

ROSSVILLE -- The Rev. Robert Harold Woods, 71, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010.

He was an ordained Nazarene minister and had served as a pastor for 34 years.

The son of the late J. M. and Bessie Woods, he also was preceded in death by his grandson, Drew Gibson, and brother, Roy Woods.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Woods, Rossville; children, Becky (Chuck) Adrion, Columbia, S.C., Patty (Butch) Faulkner, East Ridge, Nancy (Keith) Jones, Ringgold, and Robert "Bob" (Lisa) Woods Jr., Newport, Tenn.; brother and sisters, Joetta Bertch, Pauline Cummins, Ruth Ann Lakes, Mary Lou Mullins and Jimmy Woods; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel with the Rev. Ron McCormick and the Rev. Eric Johnson officiating.

NEWNAN -- Dennis Zinkann, 67, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at his home in Newnan.

He was born in Kankakee, Ill., to the late Peter Zinkann and Marie Cooper Zinkann. He was a Quality Production Engineer for Roper Corp.

He is survived by wife, Twilla Zinkann, of Newnan; sons, Michael Zinkann and his wife, Nancy, of Newnan, Ga., Todd Zinkann and his wife, Tammy, of Chattanooga, and Eric Zinkann and his wife, Sherry, of Lakeland, Fla.; brother, Jack Zinkann, of Sycamore, Ill.; and four grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at 5 p.m. in the Chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Father Austin Fogarty will officiate.

The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 3 until 5 p.m.

BROWN TOWN -- Irene Chamlee, 86, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. CST today from Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Williams officiating, www.rainsvillefuneralhome.com.

Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. CST.

Raymond Greeson

IDER -- Raymond "Dan" Greeson, 74, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Huntsville Hospital.

Mr. Greeson was retired from Combustion Engineering. He was a member and deacon of New Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include wife, Ruthie Thrasher Greeson; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Velisha Greeson, Adel, Ga., Marcia and Eddie Wheeler, Henagar; sister, Linda Patton, Henagar; brothers, Bill Greeson, Ider, and Norman Greeson, Fort Payne; grandchildren, Jeremy (Wendi) Wheeler, Jana (Ashley) Fetter, Miranda (Chuck) Johnson and Cody Greeson; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m. CST at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Brother Tim Pelham, Brother Donald Fraley and Brother David Marks officiating.

Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. CST today.

HENAGAR -- Sallie Mae Willbanks, 72, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at her residence.

Funeral service are at 1 p.m. today, Feb. 24, 2010, from W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
