There was no drama Saturday night at McKenzie Arena.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team hammered Samford 92-62 to clinch the Southern Conference championship outright and lock up the top seed in next week's SoCon tournament.

Erin Helton finished with 17 points and nine rebounds off the bench and Shanara Hollinquest had 16 points to lead five Lady Mocs in double figures. The Lady Mocs hit 12 of 22 3-pointers and dominated Samford, which would have shared the SoCon title with a win.

Helton provided the Lady Mocs with a huge lift off the bench in the first half after Shanara Hollinquest picked up her second foul with 10:18 left in the half. Helton had 10 points and five rebounds in 10 minutes, helping UTC to a 36-25 lead at the break.

The Lady Mocs hits just one of their first six shots but finished the half 14 of 28 from the field. Samford, meanwhile, was just 10 of 28, 3-for-14 from 3-point range.
